In a grim part of Indiana

    Beautiful photo of a grove.

Grim is right. Don’t eat the fish! Wolf Lake is polluted by several (unnamed) industries in Hammond-Whiting Indiana area. Many people in the surrounding community have suffered from cancer believed to be related to those toxins. Yet, not to far, is Whiting Park, a beautiful park full of hundreds of migrating geese. And Whiting Indiana is such an interesting old city, sitting upon Lake Michigan. Did you know that Whiting Indiana is the home of the original White Castle? Still there on U.S. 41.

Love all the bright minds on this blog: the art references, the history lessons (from local residents, the links, etc.), and so much more.

Terrible about the lovely lake, and what it’s done to the community.

    Huh; Whiting/White Castle…another mystery solved? :-)

Despite its location, I’d say it’s one of your top nature photos. I love the black/white feel of this picture.
