Awesome mailbox #26

I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out. If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania. You can read all about the details of my trip if you're so inclined.

Notice the thickness of each from the ground up to the end.. center to outside (of each circle) and then the outside dimensions from left to right, then the thickness… it kinda plays with the mind.

If you notice, the mailbox can swing on the rod that holds it up. I think I know why it’s made that way. I live out in the country and in the winter time the snow plows go flying down the highway. If it’s a wet, sloppy snow it gets thrown off the plow at about the speed of the truck and just hammers the mailboxes. I’ve seen some of the boxes dented in, knocked off their post and in my case it broke the red flag off. Now if the snow hits it, it should swing free and take up some of the energy. It also looks artistic, although I would have ground down the welds, very functional, and delicate yet sturdy at the same time. Two thumbs up.
