  2. Pete says:

did I mention .. 1st post? LOL GO MATT!!

  3. Candice in Alabama says:

Now this is one awesome mailbox! oh….not a mailbox huh?

  4. Dennis in So Cal says:

Hobo Scarecrow? She wants to follow you to Oz to get a brain…the blond hair gave away she didn’t have one.

  5. Yard art? She looks pretty clean for being outside and on a grill to boot. Just don’t know what it is she’s doing or what she’s supposed to be doing. She looks like Edward scissors hand on one side and MJ on the other. But for being “old” she is one hot momma! Youch! sssssss……

  6. Lori in Ohio says:

WT…. I probably wouldn’t stick around for dinner

  7. Christine says:

    Pete you rock

  8. Gigi says:

If she’s a doll, she would be a handful.

  9. Lance says:

You toucha my rock, I stabba you face. Yo.

  10. Marit says:

Really really enjoying your walk, while sitting behind my computer in Holland (Europe, not Michigan).

    • Dawn in IL says:

      Marit,

That is funny you would say the country and not Michigan. I am originally from there. But when I think Holland I usually think of the country itself instead of the darn city. It is great that Matt has followers across the USA and even Europe!!!

    • Barb V from Michigan says:

Glad you clarified, Marit. I live less than an hour from Holland, Michigan, so when I hear Holland, I think Lake Michigan, Dutch heritage, cloggers, windmills, Tulip Festival, and Hope College. Our own little taste of the Netherlands. :) http://holland.org/

(BTW – I “became” Dutch when I married almost 12 years ago, and have since mastered the art of making Banket for my Dutch husband.)

Welcome and thanks for expanding the Hobo Nation all the way to the real Holland. Hope to follow Jeff’s family roots there someday.

      • Marit says:

if you go looking for small time tourism, visit my town of Nunspeet. it gets crammed with german tourists here every year, and practically everybody i meet outside of the town will exclaim “nunspeet, oh i camped there when i was a kid!”.
i, on the other hand, would want to be making a road trip through the states instead….

    • deanna valenti meyer says:

Welcome to the Hobo Nation Marit!!! :)

    • Dennis in So Cal says:

Wow now we are Hobo Planet!

  11. Becky says:

    Huh…

that did deserve a double take…

  12. Peggy in NC says:

I guess she’s planning for one hot time in the yard today!

  13. Snagglepuss says:

Honeypot & Honeytrap, smarter than the average bean-bag.

  14. John in MI says:

Creativity abounds in the thin mountain air. And as a side note, Holland (the MI city) is doing just fine. I’m 45 minutes away, and visit there every now and then (though I’d gladly opt for a trip to The Nederlands!)

  15. kim says:

    SCARY….

  16. John in Redford says:

And now a reality check… i was having my morning coffe and then the story pops up about the Grizzley attack at “Sand Creek” campground in Montana. I checked and that was about 300+ miles east of Matt. Keep that pepper spraw handy my friend. They said that the chance of a problem is about 1 in 1.8 million. Stay well but stay alert!

  17. Frances says:

This is just plain weird. Wonder what the statement is?

  18. Kevin says:

Considering this “art” is so clean despite being outside, I am going to bet that someone placed this for the sole purpose of Matt running into and taking a picture. Why else would someone do this?!?!

    • Belle Zora says:

I’ve combined road/camping trips and American Volkssport Association walks for years. This kind of “art” is wonderfully common on America’s backroads. Getting ready to go again for a year-long (at least) road-walking trip (no rv- tent or back of old ford ranger camping)…Matt has reinspired me.

      • Sue in NY says:

        Belle,

Will you be posting your trip as well? A woman’s perspective might be a bit different – not that Matt isn’t doing a fantastic job of sharing his journey. I just wonder if a woman would notice different things. GO HOBO PLANET !!!!!

        • Belle Zora says:

Probably not…seems too difficult. I worked in and explored Death Valley National Park for years, but now I’m retired, in my 60’s, and coming back from health problems. But once you have “The Habit” – a Don Edwards song – you always yearn for that next great adventure.

  19. young says:

Tragic that someone died and people were hurt. The bears’ home is the wilderness; the humans’ home are the cities and town. But humans enjoy recreations in the wild…the quandary of encroachment comes to bear.

  20. Lisa in Phoenix says:

OK, I’m just finding this wrong on so many levels. LOL

  21. Michael in Atlanta says:

I’m a little freaked out by this picture.

  22. Terry from Missoula says:

This just screams for a video version.

  23. Jeff says:

Hear Ye – Hear Ye….be it known that on Day 124 (walking) of Matt Green’s treck across america…That Hobo Matt is a mear 75 miles (as the dragon flys) from the stateline of Idaho (Potatoe)…and be it also known that on this Date…the hobo’s of Hobo Nation have been Merged (not survivor and no feast) to a new band of Merry Men and Ladies…..for ever known now as HOBOPLANET. Shall that be one word or Two. The world is but a small place.
Play the Flute Matt…..on your coat tails we will follow…………………….

  24. John in MI says:

    I like the proclamation Jeff.

  25. deanna valenti meyer says:

    Very nice Jeff…Hobo Planet…2 words…IMO.

I like it. :) It shall be so!

  26. carolyn says:

I think its a no trespass sign…beware of the pitchfork

  27. Don in Tennessee says:

Looks like they DOLLED UP their yard and WON THE MONTANA GARDEN CLUB BRAVO AWARD FOR THE MONTH OF JULY.

What a GAS- Go fill up the propane tank. The PORTABELLO MUSHROOMS HAVE SPROUTED IN THE COMPOST AND WE CAN GRILL THEM AND STUFF THEM IN HER BUNS FOR A REAL TREAT!

OH- and the eco friendly solar lights in the tub will show off the Petunias at night as the cows, deer, coyotes and bison survey the beauty!

Someone needs to send this in to WEBER for a REALLY GRILLY COMMERCIAL!

  28. Angelica says:

That’s what they do for fun up in Montana then?

  29. Janine says:

    HOBO PLANET! I want a t-shirt!
