It kinda looks like a foggy scene in a scary movie

  3. Ned in NJ says:

    @Ashley – or The Goonies!

  4. young says:

Would that be an Oregon island or Washington island or half and half? :-)

  5. EDL in MN says:

The other day, you captured a picture UNDER I-84 and today a pic ABOVE I-84. You have this interstate covered…

  6. Joel Archer says:

I have driven that highway many times.

  7. I think that is an island called Sand Island and belongs to Oregon! Hey Matt you are about to pass Rooster Rock. Watch out for Nudies there! I think there use to be a beach there with sand, and it was known to be where naked people swam! I wouldn’t really know, Ha, ha.

  8. Candice In Alabama says:

Wow! I’m just sitting here trying to imagine all the sensations you were experiencing at this spot. I am so envious at this moment.

  9. Gigi says:

And I thought it was a landing pad for a flying saucer.

  10. Tina says:

    Look at that scenery…nice!

  11. MN Roxanne says:

Wouldn’t it be fun to go walk around that island??? Not pushing a cart though…. what a beautiful scene!

  12. Julie in Cincinnati says:

That is one huge island! Look at it compared to the vehicles on the highway. Nice picture!

  13. Tna says:

Will you be walking through Idiotville? If so, be sure to let us know if it lives up to it’s name. I may want to visit.

  14. Dorinda from Mentor, Oh. says:

Matt:”I’m King of the World!”. It’s what I thought of when I saw this, you looking down over this beautiful spot. Looks like rain though for your day? Hope not.

  15. Eileen K says:

this view looks like it could have been taken atop of Apple Blossom Scenic Drive in southeastern MN. Interstate 90 runs along the Mississippi River down here and there are plenty of islands for camping and picnicking. Thanks for the postcard – I’m glad to see you are arriving safe.

I have to share a this story:

We drove this route during a vacation in, oh, 2004 or so. We saw quite a few hitchhikers as we drove east from Multnomah Falls, most of them in some kind of shade because it was scorching hot. When we were out of the greeness and into the shadeless amber deadness, we drove past an old man with a gray beard, floppy hat, red plaid shirt and jeans walking with a donky laden with all kinds of cargo. I swear I saw a pickaxe. As we drove on I looked for roads leading off of I-84 that would explain where this guy came from. It had to be more than 20 minutes before any roads crossed our path. I asked my partner, “Did you see that guy about 20 minutes ago, with the donkey? Looked like a miner 49er? Where the hell did he come from?!” After a brief discussion we decided he was a ghost. *LOL* He’s become a legend in our family. I’m dying to know if anyone else has ever seen that guy.

For sure, Matt’s King of the World here in this picture (and many previous ones too) . Oregon is amazing, I had no idea.
