They're always handwritten, but the text varies from one to the next. I've seen them in other neighborhoods as well, but not in such a high concentration.

I'm walking every street in New York City.
This is the counterpoint to my walk across the US. Instead of seeing a million places for just a minute each, I'm going to spend a million minutes exploring just one place. By the time I finish walking every block of every street in all five boroughs, I'll have traveled more than 8,000 miles on foot — all within a single city. Details!

Heck the rednecks in ALABAMA would have 40 penny nails on all 4 corners to put sign up.
The signs are also posted extremely high up the tree, so someone must’ve used a ladder in the middle of the night.
One reads, “Jesus was nailed to a tree (just like this one)” I often wonder who put them up…
