Day 108

¡Sponch!

April 16th, 2012

Initially drawn in by the Pingüinos, it wasn't until much later that I noticed, and became mesmerized by, the ¡Sponch! As it happens, SPONCH is an acronym for the six elements most essential to living organisms — sulfur, phosphorus, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen — which is ironic, because ¡Sponch! is totally devoid of any substance that might benefit the living organism that consumes it.

  1. David says:

I see no sponch in this picture.

    • Gigi says:

It’s on the lowest shelf, in between the Barritas with the red wrap and the green-wrapped cki-takes

    • Dorinda from Mentor, Oh. says:

Took me awhile to find it too but like Gigi explains it’s there. Bottom, slim and pink in color packaging. Junk food heaven for some.

  2. Cheryl says:

Just looks like a bunch of process, sugary, trans-fatty, high calorie JUNK FOOD. Stay away.

  3. Karen Too says:

Yep, I recognize all of those “snacks” from when I lived in Manhattan, etc.

Not only do they have zero nutritional value, but I’d venture to say they do a lot of harm, like so much of what is in pre-packaged foods of all kinds.

As for marketing, one has to wonder what genius came up with “Bimbo” for a brand name. LOL

According to their site, here, they are founding members of The Grain Foods Foundation, and do other good things, but I still question many of the ingredients used in their products.
