  2. Chrissy says:

I believe Lake Pepin was mentioned in the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Great picture!!

  3. Katie Sue says:

Laura and her family lived near what is now Pepin, actually. Pretty cool!

  4. Graci says:

    Hi Matt,
Happy Memorial Day! Hope you have a great day!

  5. Dionne says:

Yep Pepin WI is across the Lake from Lake City–there is a replica Little House in the Big Woods about 5 miles east of town up on the bluff. The crossed the lake in the book right before the ice cracked for the spring! in Sept. Pepin Wi has a Laura festival

  6. Jay says:

Lake Pepin is the largest body of water on the Mississippi River. LOTS of sail boats on the weekend enjoying the bluff and water!

  7. Craig Anderson says:

Some say Lake City, on Lake Pepin, is the birthplace of water skiing. When I was a kid, living in Red Wing, it was exciting to go see an old car every winter, that they would put out on the ice of Lake Pepin. Bets were placed on what day it would fall through the melting ice. All fluids were removed from the vehicles beforehand, and the DNR considered them to be artificial reefs that increased fish populations.

  8. Sonja Johnson says:

I heard about your journey after you passed through Winona, MN where I am currently a nursing student at Winona State University. I noticed this picture, and was a camp counselor at a YMCA camp in Pepin, WI last summer right across the lake from where you were at. It really is beautiful along there! Safe journey!! :)
