Is kind of funny isn’t it. Maybe we can bring the poor ones from the gulf up here for rehabilitation then bring them back south when the winter hits. Seriously though. Dude you are amongst a huge amount of lakes. to bad you didn’t bring your fishing pole.

  2. Jeff says:

Matt Fact: From Rockaway Beach, NYC to Pelican Lake…1450 miles. By car 21 hours. By Matt’s feet 76 days.
` Matt could confim better … but my armchair calculation is he is about 150 miles to the halfway point, or less.
Specificaly if driven 3004 miles or so from Rockaway to Rockaway. But I read somewhere Matts calculated walk is around 3100 or so…unless he continues to Mongolia. Keep it up.

    • Jeff says:

      Matt: Giants or Jets?
George martin’s walk across america 3004 miles, 171 days and 5,200,000 steps
Most interesting comparison to me: Matt 2 pairs of shoes I think I read…george Martin 41 pairs the whole trip.

  3. Judd fromGlenwood says:

They summer up here. A lot of them do. :-) Sad thing is some will not make it back next summer due to expected winter oil exposure. :-(

  4. Sarah says:

I saw them in MO, a few years ago. So cool! They are also in abundance, here on the coast, of course.

  5. 'gina says:

Funny thing about a pelican, it’s beak can hold more than it’s belly-can

  6. Barbara says:

    What kind of pelicans? White?

  7. El Grego says:

Great Blue Herons and Sand Hill Crane are common up here. They fly down onto some water, scoop up a fish into the air and pop it down their throat. Can’t imagine a pelican being up here but i”m no expert.

  8. charlie says:

who woulda thought…..there are TWO Pelican Lakes, in Minnesota!! one is in Pelican Lake Township between Evansville and Ashby, and the other is north of Fergus Falls (the end of the trail) on Route 59 between Dunn and Scrambler townships!!
