Good grief. How many times did you get knocked over today? There appears to be next to nothing to break the wind, so it must have been pretty wild at times.
I think you should come up with a “sail” idea tonight and you’ll get across ND in no time! Honestly, you can’t walk fast or far in that wind!! Maybe take a rest from the wind day…
I was reading about some tornados in Otter county or some such place I think you posted about. That wind is terrifying. I’ve had wind pick me up on a bicycle but not walking. If you go near the columbia river basin beware the wind, it can get quite strong. Godspeed wanderer.
best post. I am laughing so hard right now. Nice relief
Sorry to hear about otter county. PRayers are with all.
does the wind stop? Get more tubines up !
It was joked that maybe matt was being treated and fed to well that he might have been gaining a little weight…..So if so..it probably is helping keep his feet on the ground right now.
Oh my god! That’s just wind?? No rain or anything else? Jeez, that’s rough. Beware wind burn and wear that bandana over your face and put your gloves on.
Katzien – I too was thinking of Windburn – was going to suggest Matt to be sure and wear some lip balm – but a bandana is a better idea! Sunglasses (or glasses) as well – to protect your eyes from drying out.
Matt your journey has brought you to a beautiful place at a dangerous time. Attached is a link to the latest news. It looks like there was a record number of tornado sitings in ND and MN. Please be careful! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100618/ap_on_re_us/us_minnesota_storms
Matt, I’ve been following your journey since early May and it’s certainly fascinating. It makes me think of the travels of Lewis and Clark. Your explorations have turned up some mighty fine finds to date. Be safe in this weather. My prayers are with you.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
