For Half Christmas…here is my present to all my Hobo Nation Family….the Man of the walk by the woman who wrote the story that put us in this place at this time:
Hey, that was great!!! So who was this Martha Irvine?? Did Matt just meet her along the way? How did she hear of him? Neat story, neat video. I’ll be both excited and sad when Matt reaches his Rockaway Beach, Oregon.
I mean yea it looks abandoned, no? I ran into (literaly) a few and have come across locked doors. Sad when that has to happen. It still is a cool piece of history – that I would not have known about without this blog/hike log.
There are churches like this all over the great plains. Some in better shape than others. Some are maintained by local people out of their own pockets. Others are nearly collapsed.
Interestingly, there is a large Lutheran Church right across the road. Can’t quite see it due to some road haze on street view but they have a map label. If you look at the satellite you can see the huge parking lot.
I think St Anthony of Paua is supposed to be the patron saint of taking care of animals. I also think one of the saint anthony’s is supposed to help you find lost things. He seems to have lost his congregation.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Does that sign on the front of the church say “no trespassing” ?? Is that why the church has been abandoned?? ha ha.
I bet if you go inside it’s like a time capsule.
and today is 1/2 way to Christmas. Thanks Matt. I’m R.C and you made my day.

Mr. Matt Green one foot at a time
Thanks for that youtube post, Jeff. I hadn’t seen it before. I will cast my vote soon for due date! Be safe, Matt, and thanks for the memories…
Yes, thanks. It was cool to see him in moving & talking pictures, lol.

When that happens he could then walk from Venice Beach, CA to Venice LA.
That was a great video to watch. So interesting to see and hear Matt in action. Matt – be sure to wear sunscreen!
Peaceful church……watch for thunderstorms coming your way today.
I think that’s the first time I’ve seen ‘No Trespassing” posted on a church. Interesting irony.

SAD!!!!!
It was a little tricky to spot … off to the side. I hit some other spots on your route … the views are amazing for their majestic solitude.

Just a little off to the side. Don’t know about the no trespassing … maybe it is on a circuit and that is for when there is no service.

That’s the most Baptist looking Catholic church I’ve ever seen.
Tesla, that’s funny…

It was St Francis
