They all look ready for a whole day of Bingo games ;-) Glad you had a free lunch and was able to spend some time with your fellow diners. Stay safe, Matt.
I love diners, and there are way too few of them around these days. Kudos to Aunt Tillie. Did she share her secrets to longevity? Inquiring minds want to know!
I can’t tell if this is a friendly bunch or not. The guy on the right front in the baseball hat won’t look at you, he doesn’t look happy about this at all. The others look just not sure of you at all. But Aunt Tillie is something else! 103 and still living on her own?! Wow. And yes the local diners are the best places to stop as the locals can tell you some stories about where you are.
I’m not sure what I love most about this photo… the fabulous 4th of July decorations – especially the USA hung backwards – Aunt Tillie eating all by herself, or yes the gentleman who refuses to look at you! Love it all.
I love that it doesn’t even look like a diner. More like a VFW or some other small hall that would host a pancake breakfast fundraiser. Maybe I’m just craving pancakes.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Aunt Tillie is adorable!!! I bet she has some great stories :-))
Happy days Aunt Tillie. I had one of those. Bet as soon as Matt left a poker game broke out. I hope they enjoyed the story of your walk so far.

Oh and the enormous bear shaped honey bottle.

Think about Aunt tillie. She has vovered more years than you have days traveling. Amazing.
Looks like the Driscoll Cafe is a happening place! Keep on truckin’ Aunt Tillie!
Amazing – I hope I am still that independent at that age.
She is so lovely :) It would be great to spend an afternoon with her.
