May 1st, 2015

Old & Rare Books Since 1954

This store was originally located on Austin Street in Kew Gardens, hence the name. It was right outside the original shop, late one night in 1964, that the infamous murder of Kitty Genovese began.

the story linked with the forlorn kitty in the window, made my day.

The Kitty Genovese murderer just died last March 28 in prison. Never showed any remorse for it, kind of like it was a mugging and sometimes people die. Sheesh. He escaped once and committed more crimes, then was a participant in the Attica riots. His death sentence was commuted to life and life it was. 52 years in prison. Good riddance.
