Whether in its regular or diet incarnation, Mountain Dew is apparently western Minnesota's favorite type of soda can to throw out of a moving vehicle. In fact, I've seen even more Dew cans than beer cans littering the side of the road!
Sorry to hear about the litter. Still the Ugly side of America..but it is america (envision indian standing on mountain with tear in eye…) …but none the less…in todays age…just bring it to the recycle place. I heard that in some places there is a bigger addiction to Mountain Dew then to alcohol. Hmm..wonder if there is any relation.
I had no idea there was such an addiction problem associated with Mountain Dew. Having Googled it just now, I found a lot of articles, etc. on this subject, as well as on caffeine, and sugar, addiction in general.
The scary implication here is that there are a whole lot of tired drivers on the road using caffeine to stay alert. Diet Dew is the most caffeinated diet soda.
Too bad you can’t collect them along the way. I know…no place to stash things like this. Let’s hope they have people assigned to community service to clean up roadsides.
As I sit here typing this I am staring at my Diet Dew can…and I am in NJ! Its a great caffeine hit for me on these long days of working. It beats coffee!
Same here in Indiana. Actually I rarely see any non-pepsi can or bottle, or non-beer can or bottle, on the side of the road. It’s strange. I guess they attract a certain type.
You hardly ever see any kind of cans or bottles along the roads in Michigan. Even if people do occasionally toss them, someone else will come by and pick them up for the $.10 deposit.
Funny … reminds me of a scene in “Harold and Kumar goes to White Castle” and bunch of rough and rowdy thrill seeking adrenaline junkies, driving around Minn and ND. smashing them on their heads after slugging on down and yelling “Extreme” at each other…
hehe
I guess driving while tired law rarely gets used there?
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.

It appears to be a problem all over the country.

Youll see more of these the further west you go

I guess that explains why Minnesotaon’s are so good at playing Kick the Can!

It has to do more with the people who drink MD than the actual MD itself!
My Mom likes Mountain Dew – but I get her the Diet/Decaffeinated Mountain Dew.
