We shared a wonderful evening yesterday, sitting on the deck as the sun set, eating pizza. And then retreating to our respective shelters before the mosquitoes came out in full force.
Matthew – I’m jealous of all the people you’ve met. Thank you to all of you who are taking such good care of my grandson. I’m sure he will have many stories to tell when I see him again. I agree with everyone who says he’s a wonderful human being. Thank goodness he takes after me!
I love him dearly and can’t wait til he’s home again.

Matt, I’m wondering if you could update about what the most hazardous/ difficult weather you’ve stumbled upon so far in your journey has been? I know here on the East Coast, we’ve been getting pounded wtih some wicked thunder and lightening, and most recently tornado warnings which rarely happens out this way. Have you noticed any crazy weather mid-west?
Walk strong!
It’s been a quite a while since we’ve had any violent weather in the Twin Cities. I’m guessing if he hit any it was East of Madison or perhaps Chicago. The dangerous weather has all been much further south.
What a nice couple, as are others you’ve posted picture of. These are the “real” people who make America the great country it is! Love your photos of the people you’re meeting along the way! That’s what draws my interest the most, the beautiful scenery being a bonus! :D
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Yeah… more friendly Minnesotans to charge you up on your way…
enjoy the trail Matt we’re cheering for you..
