Day 76

Duane and Sherri

June 10th, 2010

A very kind couple. Duane set up a cot for me in the garage to keep me out of the rain, and Sherri made me three delicious meals, the highlight of which was a homemade milkshake!

  1. katzien says:

3 meals? You should change your name to Hoover… in vaccuum! ;-) Jeez, I wonder how many calories you’re buring a day?? Eat up…you need your strength.

  2. MN Roxanne says:

Thanks for fueling up Matt, Duane and Sherri!! He needs the calories… 30 miles!!! Congrats on the new record..
Glad you had shelter from the rain.

  3. Karen Too says:

Yes, and after thirty miles I’m surprised he ever stopped eating.

You can see the kindness in this couple’s beautiful faces.

Duane, Sherri, when you read this, please know I mean it in the best possible way, but you two really do look a lot alike now.

You give a happy truth to what’s said about couples looking alike after a certain amount of time.

  4. Jeff says:

Chocalate or Vanilla? Duane and Sherri deserve The nice people of the Day Award. Any seconds to the Motion?

  5. Melanie says:

I second it! I always look forward to the posts the people that feed you and offer you shelter!

  6. Jeff says:

So let it be written…so let it be done!!

Matt did you get a ride in the golf cart? hmmm walk across america or golf cart across….hmmm walk on!

  7. Cheri says:

Funny…that’s my mom and dad’s name, but mom spells her name Shari. Its not them though ;-)

You sure are making some amazing progress! Stay safe and I’ll be following along.

  8. Bob B says:

Now these are the kind of people that make me love being an American, God Bless You folks, true neighbors are still around..walk on!!

  9. Robert says:

    Nice people.

Is it me or do they look like they could pass for brother & sister?

  10. tim says:

    what flavor?

  11. 'gina says:

Is that a golf cart in the background?? They arent just for golfing anymore…..I know of two other people that use them on their land too.

  12. Pat in CA says:

Lu and Denny, Duane and Sherri – people for whom the expression “salt of the earth” was invented.

  13. Kay says:

It has been a born privilege to be the daughter of the “salt of the earth”. As I see there has been many comments about how much they look alike, I would like to add when we played hide & seek growing up, when it was mom’s turn to hide she would put on dad’s cap and flannel shirt and eat a brownie….she always won.

Matt, what was your secret to getting the homemade milkshake? My husband would appreciate the insight.
