Yea can’t take it out on the animals so beat up the sign. Hope tomorrow brings sunshine.
If my mapp reading skills and your walking is up to pace, we should see a state change in a day or two – no?
Confession: I walk 10 miles a day. Not to do one better – but to offer home. If each week you go a 1/10 or 2/10 it gets easier and easier..as you stress less about the “space & distance” walked..you begin to enjoy the serenity and peace of the walk. The earlier or later you do it (less cars and traffic) the better. I have been doing this for about 10 or 15 years.
That said..Matt is like the energizer rabbit…he keeps going and going and going. As long as he stays away from those triple woppers he should do fine.
Aaron push on…in a year or two lets all do together
Jeff, have u seen any health benefits from 10/day?? And do u walk everyday that much?? I used to do 7 every other day, but stopped. Now I have anxiety often and have decided to walk long distances once more to offset anxiety. If u can, please respond. Thanks!!!!
I think the game refuge sign is not accidentally placed. I would say the damage on the right side of that sign was likely caused by a shotgun blast, not at particularly close range but it looks to me like there are tiny dents like those caused by shot. Hopefully they were just shooting at the sign. Sheesh.
Aaron, Jeff (and any/all other walkers), keep up the good work. You know the saying about “A journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step.”
There is something else that I’ve been meaning to ask, and that sign reminded me:
Matt, have you seen any large wildlife on the trail, or elsewhere during your walk?
We know how animals love to observe you. Farm animals, and inanimate ones, do not count here.
Remember Charles Kuralt… and his “On the Road” segments on CBS? He had a shot up sign on the wall of his office. Bored individuals use them for target practice. It’s a sad commentary, but they’re all over the place. Rural stop signs seem to make good targets, too.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Maybe YOU are the game in the refuge.

Today sir i walked 3.72 miles in your honor. Christ that nearly killed me :)
Funny! I’m still working my way up to 3/4 of a mile!
Aaron, thats funny, also thanks for your admission about how tough it is. I agree.

He had photos of Bison while passing through PA i believe.
A game refuge? Whew! Guess all the Monopolies and Candy Landys can feel safe there!

Is that a blackberry bush flowering in the background?
