Daisy (I learned her name when her owners finally tracked her down) walked with me for about eight miles today. She chased after every living thing she saw/heard/smelled, resulting in some good wildlife sightings for me: deer, fox, porcupine, and all sorts of waterfowl.
I hope you told her about the monster buffalo.
Daisy looks a little tired and hot. Man’s best friend…….
Yes she does look hot. Did you share any water with her?
So where are the shots of all this wild life you say you saw?
I’m not sure Daisy had a lack of water based on all the water Matt has had to avoid in ND. :)
oh how fun… to have a friend to walk with for 8 miles!!! Daisy is looking tired for sure… hope we get to see some wildlife pics!
Glad her owners found her!!! It is currently theorized that dogs and humans co-evolved so I’m glad you had her around for awhile.
Daisy looks looks like she had a great time showing you all the things you might have missed or needed to miss (a porcupine) along the way! I’m sure it was wonderful to have her company for the eight miles. A happy ending for her family to find her and a chance for them to meet you. Stay safe Matt.
I’ve been wondering what type of animals that he was come across.
Would love to see pictures of the porcupine…
love the blog been following for a while…this is my first comment though
Oh, how sweet of Daisy, but I hope she’s the only type of animal that chooses to walk on your path. Stay safe and may God keep and protect you.
What a great addition to your walk today, and what a surprise it must have been for the owners when they found you with her.
What a sweet dog! I’ve been following your blog and don’t comment often (I think only one other time), but I’m enjoying your pictures immensely! What a great adventure you’re having! If you were walking through N.C., near Raleigh, you could’ve certainly stayed here at our place :-) Happy Trails!
and it was a Lab. Cool on the wildlife. today in West Paterson NJ..on my early morning walk it was foxes..deer and wild turkey.
Beautiful Lab! Sounds like ya’ll had a great time together. Glad you had a local to identify local points of interest.
At least she didn’t scare up a skunk. That would’ve really stunk!
(Decided to add my home state to my name; I think it’s cool to know from where peeps are following.)
I think Daisy is an angel. How awesome, Matt!
My dream for you is fulfilled.
Cool relative you got there Barbara. It is amazing the threads he is weaving in this quilt. Your six words gave me a chill – Peace to you.
I bet Daisy had the most fun. And, since her owners tracked her down, I bet she goes off adventuring pretty often. ;-) “Born free…..as free as the wind blows…”
Perfect! As I’ve been keeping track of your journey, I’ve always thought having a dog along would make things more interesting. Glad you got to ‘borrow’ one for a bit. I’m sure you’ve read “Travels with Charley” by Steinbeck.
Always nice to travel with a friend, no matter how long.
Rufus wants to come join you and Daisy!
So sweet! I love following your journey :0) and, y’all are funnnnnny!
I’m glad you had a friend to travel with you for a bit. Dogs are such wonderful companions.
Daisy! What a treasure. Woulda been cool if she stayed with you for the rest of the trip, but I’m glad her family found her.
Give that dog a drink!! How nice :)
Aww what an adorable dog! Must have been nice to have her along for at least part of the trip. It’s good you found out who actually owns her though.
Awwwwww, I love that little doggie. How sweet she looks. She really is a best friend.
awww puppy!!! i wish i had friendly looking dogs like daisy visit me on my mail route!
AWWW what a nice companion along the way!!! Your first animal walking with you right?

aww labs are such great dogs. I have 2 chocolate labs myself and you are so right they chase everything that moves!
I was hoping you were going to walk past the presidents in the side of the mountain in south dakota! bummer..
ok wishing you the best and god bless all the people that are helping you with food, drinks and a place to rest.
watching you from the great lakes state!
This is actually a dingo
Cute dog! I’m so glad you had such good company for eight miles. I wonder how her owners tracked her down?
For Daisy:
“walk with you” – Della Reese
…
Walk with you
Until the sun don’t even shine
Walk with you
I’ll be there all the time
I tell you i’ll walk with you
See you through
…
Oh, oh walk with you
Till the clouds fade away
I tell you i ‘ll walk with you
Each and every day
Oh yes i’ll walk with you
Oh, oh oh when nobody cares
I’ll be right there by your side
If all your hope is lost
I’m the one that’s gonna help you see the light
Just look into my eyes
Please know you’re not alone
I’m here, i’m here by your side
(walk on Matt)
Nicely put Young …
A great Poem.
Thanks for sharing it with us
AW Daisy is SO cute! I bet it was nice to have a companion for a little while.
I love the pics you share with us. And I hope you stay safe
Linda
What a sweet dog – I’ve been saying for a while I’d like to get a lab. I need a walking companion.
Continuing to enjoy your photos. Carry on :).
don’t pet the porcupines
See what you would have missed had Daisy not showed up? I think it was a way to show you that even though you’re walking and seeing all sorts of things, you’re still missing stuff. Seems like Daisy was showing you what else was right there under your nose.
Aww…what a treasure.
This has got to be one of the highlights of your journey so far!
God Bless and Take Care.
Hi Matt! I finally had time to search the I-net to find your name. I’m the owner of Daisy. Yes we were very happy to get her back. She was one hungry doggy when we got home. And I’m sure she slept well that nite. It will be so fun to continue following your progress. Your pictures are great. We wish you well and apologize for not bringing some food for you when we got Daisy. Some have wondered how we caught up to you TWO. Well, a neighbor told us he had seen her with you. Glad she was good company. Take care & may God continue to bless you on your “adventure”.
Reminds me of a book…Celestine Prophecy. Talks of animals being for a reason you may or may not know. Great read.
