    hehehe Funny!
For the second time in less than a week, Mandan police responding to an alarm at Jay’s Pawn Shop found a suspect on the premises.

Mandan Police Deputy Chief Dennis Bullinger said officers responded to the pawn shop at 3101 Memorial Highway at 10:09 p.m. Sunday for a report of an alarm going off. Officers could hear rustling inside the business, he said.

When police entered, the suspect ran east from the pawn shop to the parking lot at Bill Barth Ford, Bullinger said. He said police found the suspect attempting to hide, and they arrested him.

Efrain Romero Jr., 23, of Bismarck, was charged Monday with burglary, a Class Cfelony, and fleeing a police officer on foot, a Class B misdemeanor. South Central District Judge Sonna Anderson set bond for Romero at $5,000 cash or surety.

Bullinger said officers recovered several rings and a handgun that had been stolen from the pawn shop.

According to an affidavit from Lt. Richard Schaaf, the business was entered through a hole “chopped” in the metal roof at the pawn shop.

Two glass display cases also were broken in the business, the affidavit said.

Jay’s Pawn Shop also was hit by burglars Thursday. Police arrested three people after an alarm went off at the business shortly after 4 a.m.

Jeremy Will, 19 of rural Morton County, and Neil Buck Jr., 21, of Mandan, have been charged with attempted burglary. Olivia Atencio, 23, of Bismarck, has been charged with accomplice to burglary.

Investigations into that burglary has lead police to information that may link Will, Buck and Atencio to other recent Bismarck and Mandan burglaries.

Bismarck and Mandan police are still investigating those cases.

A Business review by a customer says: Mike P: Not a huge fan of Pawn Shops, but Jay’s is cool. Go grab a movie, game, tools or tv. I don’t pawn stuff or cash checks, however I do love to grab a good deal off something that is used. Service is surprisingly really good. Big hairy guy (Nick?) behind counter looks scary but is like a big teddy bear. Nice selection of pawned guns. Also can order/buy new guns at 10% above cost. Jay will cut you a heck of a deal!

  3. Karen Too says:

Lovely, but, hey, at least the horseshoes are right side up, so the luck won’t run out, so I feel very confident about doing business with them.

Hey I noticed on June 26, you have that listed as Day 92….on June 27, you also have that listed as Day 92. If I am incorrect, sorry…I’m pretty tired. Thanks for all the great photos and have a wonderful journey!!!

    • Yes, pics were all taken on day 92 but some were not loaded to this site until June 27th during the night. Have to watch dates/times when items are posted. And when they are posted Matt is usually farther along than what you see in the picture at that time. Does that help you Nicole?

      • Nicole says:

Thank you Dorinda!! I’m a bit late joining in the journey, so that does explain it for me. :) Appreciated!

After you hanging out and taking three pics in a row, did Jay come out and offer to help you “move it along, son?” ;-)

  6. JP says:

That just got funnier and funnier. I was waiting for you to pull out another step to find Jay’s in the middle of a graveyard or surrounded by construction vehicles arranged like the pillars of Stonehenge…

  7. tia says:

Happy Anniversary Matthew…back in March, where would you have guessed you might be at the end of June?

  8. Nancy says:

I wonder how many people had the “find” the “concealed” sign before signing up for the class!

  9. Mike in Phoenix, AZ says:

“But your Honor. The sign clearly says – “We’re here to help you.” I was just trying to get some of that help.”
