Rent? “Hi, I’d like to rent some alfalfa for several weeks.” “Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize you wanted it back in it’s original condition – all I have is this silage.”

  2. andrea says:

    something you don’t see every day . . .

  3. John in Redford says:

It was just after midnight – I was reviewing Matt’s daily pics and was about to shut my system down for the night when I realized… The author had used a lower and upper case f/F in Alfalfa – WHY? Is this Dakota code for What?
    Happy trails Matt – SISU

  4. MN Roxanne says:

How do you rent a crop??? And WHY would you want to ??

    • Nancy says:

Thanks for researching Karen Too! Not only is this an enjoyable journey through Matt’s eyes and thoughts, it has been an educational one for me. History, geography, nostalgia (tar bubbles), culture (soda, coke and pop), scientific (chemtrail vs. contrail/ streams), grammar and punctuation, economics (hayandforage.com), art, and culinary, etc. Thanks for being a great teacher Matt and for all of your student aids along the way!

      • Jeff says:

Right on Nancy. That is what hooked me and most the rest of us I suppose….a little taste of everything..and a way to live out a fantasy of many.

    • Stephen says:

Followed your link and discovered this quote: “The goal in price negotiations is to find a middle ground.” I guess you’d have to pay a premium for renting an alfalfa field located on the Continental Divide.

    • Craig (Yeah in NC!) says:

Karen.. wow don’t seem like much does i?

    • Janine says:

This is really interesting! Thanks, Karen!

    : ( Banksy Was Here : )

  6. Jeff says:

    Wat happen to Buckwheat spanky?

I had a question but once again Karen Too researched it for me. Thanks

  7. Jeff says:

Karen too…or somebody..is there a world record for crossing the usa on foot? I wonder.

  8. katzien in austin says:

Green and purple…mardi gras colors. ;-)

  9. Dennis from California says:

It seems like an invitation to crank callers.

  10. Terry from NJ says:

Matt, I’ve really been enjoying following your journey. I recently just drove from Seatlle to Fargo (I’ve now been to 49 states), but you get to see the country in so much more detail. You are entering one of the most beautiful areas of the country, hopefully you get to see some of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and the Enchanted Highway if it’s not too far out of your way.

  11. Wendy says:

I checked Guinness and could not find a record…

    • Jeff says:

yea I checked too…funny all I kept getting was links to articles about some Matt Green. Call it a omen..I do not know.

  12. Thomas says:

Is that related to the old saying “You don’t buy beer, you only rent it to use for a little while and then you have to give it back” …

Other than that, this could be a new sideline for other businesses, like “Rent a Friend” and “Rent a Dog”

    • Patty says:

Thomas, as a person who has no children, I’ve always had a saying I need to ‘rent-a-kid’ whenever I have those maternal instincts kick in. I figure if I can rent someone’s brat for even a short time (figuring a loving parent would only consent when their wee ones were in a horrific mood), I could return to my previous, happy, childless existence in no time! LOL

  13. Jeff says:

Yes I know of your type. Wanna play with my kids (kidding around here) Patty you are not the only one who loves that…..

  14. Sharon P says:

Don’t quite understand this sign, but love your selection anyway. Have been following you online and really like the photos and your sense of humor with captions. Take care.

  15. Linda says:

I love the Enchanted Highway. I hope Matt gets to see it.

  16. Sarah says:

For anyone else for who Linda’s comment elicited a “Huh?”:

    That looks like fun :)!

  17. Sarah says:

Whoops, sorry, I see the previous comment referring to it :).
