Crossing into Idaho at Cooper Pass, I'm about 200 feet higher than I was when I crossed the Continental Divide, which I thought was going to be the highest elevation of the trip.
Lori,
Thanks for catching that! A big mistake on my part. It would have helped if I would have taken the time to read the 2nd line – Elevation 5802. A big OOPS!!. Sorry all. You are right that 7623 is the road number. I went back and zoomed in on Flickr and that is road #7623 that was closed.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
That’s amazing – Higher here than on the Continental Divide! Breath Deep and Often!
we all make mistakes……feeling high right about now?? I bet on many levels…..just not meth..!
Rocky Mountain High…
It should be downhill the rest of the trip, right? Hang in there, Matt!
time for a ride in the three wheeler right deb
Let’s make that 2,000 feet higher than the Continental Divide.
Looks pretty out there. Hope you are enjoying the seclusion. Looks like there’s plenty of it.
Go Matt Go!! That road looked rough but I bet reaching the top was worth it! =)
I believe the 7623 refers to the road number. Forest Service Roads all have numbers.

Looks like others have used the sign for target practice! Congrats Matt for reaching great heights !!!
