Oh….what a sweet face. I am a huge dog lover, and this fellow has found a great guy to hang out with tonight! What great pictures you have posted today, the water/reflection pictures have been extraordinary! Thanks so much for sharing.
He’s so happy to see you Matt!! Even in this photo you can still see his tails wagging! How cute. Love this dog. Looks almost like the one back in ND. Say, did you take a wrong turn somewhere? The praying Mantis sculpture, now the dog? Glad to see you had some company with you for a while. He probably wanted to sleep with you too he’s so happy to have a visitor!
More amazing pictures yesterday and today Matt. I forgot how beautiful it is in this part of the country. I went to college in Spokane about the time you were learning to walk! On weekends we sometimes hopped freight trains from Spokane to Whitefish, Montana for pizza, beer and the experience and camped in Coeur d’Alene, ID. I love the photo of the dog. With his tail wagging, you can see the shy smile on his face. He is happy to have to have your company this evening. Safe travels on the rest of your journey…
Hay your caption has got to be right…cause that tail is a wagging. Must have been the good farmer’s dog or a near by pet..with the collar on. Beauty for sure. Hope all is well.
Lesson learned: Next time I get a chance I’m just gonna wag my tail and hang out when my friends are near. If they throw me food from the table, hey, bonus for me!
Hey Matt H. – you happen to know if a beach party is planned in your town for Matt Green’s arrival? Would be a really awesome way to close out Matt’s Rockaway2Rockaway journey, yeah?
YOUNG..who knows what the family arranged. But I know there are few of us here that are going to go…and then there is the Rockaway Beach Chamber of Commerce…that was notified …but have not seen anything here posted…
——————-
That being said…should it be enjoyed by him and those close who know the “details” or should we jump in and try and join/create a Party?
—————
I hope at the least there is Major Media Coverage….
Jeff – I know that Rockaway Beach, Or has weekly beach bonfire parties and street dances so how much trouble would it be to adjust the date for one of these events to coincide with Matt’s arrival? I am sure the fine folks there have something in mind already and perhaps keeping the lid on as a surprise.
On another note, I am a bit disappointed that Mark Baumer didn’t get any recognition for his walk from Florida to California…people have even criticized him for being unprepared. Matt’s and Mark’s methodology was just different; one is anticipatory whereas the other was adaptive. It’s important to keep in mind that no amount of forethought or equipment that money can buy can help you complete such an arduous journey if the key preparation is not already in place – the preparation of heart and mind. http://thebaumer.com/
Ned – Looks like a lot of fun but the NY routes are too short and the NJ one is 350 miles. That one will burn some serious vacation…ha! I notice that on 4 of the 40 routes on the “13 Moon Walk for Peace” say “drive,” what gives?? Would have to pick a doable route in terms of time and distance…Everyday, Yeah?
I’m not sure, I believe there is a Street Dance planned for Aug 21st. I haven’t heard anything about a welcome thing for Matt, but I hope they plan something. It’s quite a trek and he some get some type of welcome :)
I’ll ask around and see what I can find out :)
I think he is someones well loved pet, even if he is a farm dog. He look like he might like to travel with you a bit, except his family would miss him so.
Just because it is August and the DOGS OF SUMMER does not mean you can go to the dogs!
What a nice friendly looking dog. Did it snore and keep you awake?
Last year we had 2 dogs and a cat. We had to have our female dog put down last July and our cat last Sept. We miss both very much. We still have a 19 year old male Bichon that keeps on ticking; I mean barking!
I never understood how anyone could mistreat animals. They give so much love and do not care if you had a bad day. They will meet you at the door and are ready to show love and affection.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
He looks like a keeper ;- )
yeah, must not be any Koreans who live around there

I love dogs too but I’m just regular size. You should wait to find out what happened to this dog before you make quick judgements about Matt.

Awww…he’s a cutie Matt!! Glad you have a little bit of company tonight.
Man’s Best Friend!
He looks like a happy camper! Maybe questioning if there will be smores…
Ha ha, Ruthie. I like that.
Love how his tail is going non-stop, and those eyes are intense. A sweetie pie. He looks as if he is vibrating!

He’s a good Boy!!
He seems very alert and ready to have fun. Did you throw some sticks for him Matt?
I am a 10. Proof is in the posting…..

Oh, he’s so cute! Did you give him a treat?
I guess the treat was in being your campsite companion! :) I love dogs!
Lesson learned: Next time I get a chance I’m just gonna wag my tail and hang out when my friends are near. If they throw me food from the table, hey, bonus for me!
Ha ha ha!! Now if they pat you on the head and say “good boy”, ya might wanna get a little concerned…..
Cute Dog! I love dogs :) Have a nice walk today!!

I’m glad to see that the baumer made it.
The Baumer is one crazy dude.

Indeed Ned – these continental walkers are definitely an elite group, and not just with their quirkiness…yeah!

Ha Ha Michael in Atlanta, should Matt try that?
The inquisitive crinkled forehead ha! Canines are the bombs!
Some great pictures lately! A yellow lab by the look of it. Great companion if not the most loyal of them.

Cute puppy ears! Now if only he had tilted his hed sideways….heehee.
