just south of where you are there is a mock up of stonehenge and a museum–it over looks the columbia river–a bit further west i believe. some excentric type built a mansion etc.
you are getting so close to your goal now–how exciting. i have been in kenewick and pasco, but not for many many many years. hope you enjoy the views of the cascades and the columbia river gorge. watch for the windsurfers at the curve in the river (you’ll know when you see them!) one specific spot where the conditions are almost always perfect for that sport–or so i was told!
Ummmm….that’s something all right. Definitely artistic.
Dionne is right. The area of the Columbia River Gorge is THE prime area for Windsurfers and Kiteboarders. On summer weekends, it’s hard to see the water with all of the windsurfers/kiteboarders in the water! It’s quite the sight.
Hood River, Oregon is where they do the awesomest windsurfing. People come from all over the world to windsurf there. I saw it on TV and they were having a blast!
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Ha ha… they look like little benches… strange rock formation in the center..
StoneHeg
Whee! I’m first! This is quite a silly sculpture – but I love it!
Okay, I’ll settle for second!
Something strange.
I think someone is “slipping a bit” on this one…
umm unusual. Cool non rusty yard art. Actualy I would give it a A. Needs a fountain to complete it.
Is that a sundial on top of the rock with a face?
My gosh I think you’re right Gigi… I thought it was a weird little hat…
From the number of small henges I would say, its the 14 hour sun clock, for the times you could use the 2 extra hours

Dionne, you’re getting me all excited to see what’s next!
Dionne,
In Goldendale this is a Stonehedge and Maryhill (now a museum) was Sam Hill’s home.
I really like this! Stonehenge reproduction AND a sort of an Easter Island statue. What do these people know that we don’t know? Plus a sundial!

I feel a strange urge to strip naked and do a Druid dance in their yard…
Been there, done that. But only on the Summer Equinox. I swear… your Honor.
Thats in somebody’s yard? I wonder if the fence/rope along the drive circles the whole thing ?

Someone has a little extra time at their materials testing job!
Those dang pagans….there goes the neighborhood. Kidding! Looks like a nice campfire circle anyhow. Marshmallows anyone?
LOL at your title, Matt…Congrats for entering Oregon. I almost moved to Portland last August. Onward…
Your whole trip henged on you finding this last piece of the puzzle. Congratulations!
This is a cool piece of work but I do not think I would want it in my front yard.
Is this concrete from the driveup mobile home we saw earlier?

Based on what I read on the above link, perhaps this is another memorial.
Thanks to Dionne, and Bev from Vancouver WA, for the heads up about the replica at Maryhill.
Great site Karen. Thanks. Someday, I must take that trip to the west coast.
These look a little like parking curbs to me…
That’s what I was gonna say! Parkingblockhenge!
