Oh no I can’t! You don’t know me. When driving out to Oakland CA for the first time to see my sister my son and her didn’t tell me there was a bridge I’d have to cross that has openings in the flooring of it! I freaked out when we hit it and started to go over it. My son then told me they both kept it from me because they knew how I would be.
THEN there was this time when I was younger and on a family vacation over your way Jeff. I believe it’s Maryland to Delware? there is a nice long low bridge over the water to one another. Maybe don’t have the right bridge but it’s the right area around there somewhere. Even my dad driving seemed a little freaked out and my dad didn’t get afraid very easily.
So, no, I’m not going. But I have gone over the Golden gate bridge in San Fran and am okay with that in a car. But NOT the bay bridge, even though I’ve been on it, it scares me.
In my conclusion of my final protest I will NOT be walking over any such bridge any time. No.
yea hks…is right ..that is the one…not by me…but been there done that a few times. I know your fear well. My other half is the same. I did not know until I had to coax her off a bridge she became frozen on. FROZE..not a foot foward and not a foot backward. I was just playing…and encouraging …… We’ll put you in the car (not mattmobile) you will be fine.
Thanks hks. That very well could be it as we were on vacation at the time to Ocean City Maryland. Nice place from what I remember. There’s a horse race track somewhere around there or we wouldn’t have gone there. My dad was into horse racing and had to have a track near us wherever we went on vacation. But the bridge I remember as being so low it seemed to the water and long. Scary it was for all.
Can you feel the traffic? That always made me nervous walking across small bridges. The bridge vibration from the traffic. Perhaps you wouldn’t feel it on this bridge, unless it was rush hour.
You know, hks provided a wonderful tip on enjoying Matt’s images on Flickr. If you click the map, it takes you to a view where you can turn on satellite view. The satellite views are mighty awesome, and Matt image is flagged. I’m going to have to go back through his whole photo stream (as time permits or when Matt ends his journey/blog) and check out the satellite views for each image.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Perhaps the charge is on the honor system?
That is one awesome bridge!! Fun to walk over !
Well yeah because if you jump and are successful, who are they going to fine?
Beautiful bridge. Don’t think I could do it though, walk over it that is.
cmon….you can do it….then you can go walk the top of the Sydney harbor bridge. You can do it Dorinda.

Sorry to hear about your trepidation regarding certain bridges, though I’m with Jeff in that you could do it.
You will probably want to stay away from this one, too:

It’s almost 24 miles long, and over water. I have been on it countless times, since I used to live down there.
There’s no way I’m gettin’ on that bridge. I won’t go over the bridges we have here! But, this is all because I’m afraid of heights. :)
Do you have to pay before you jump?

Candice, I love your posting patterns. Where there’s one self-comment, there’s bound to be another, and I always look forward to reading them. :)
“pay before you jump” – hilarious!
Oh-oh! I’m getting the hang of this…!
I walked over that bridge as a small girl with my family when it was officially opened.
It is a beautiful bridge; a work of art. I bet the view is something else, too. Maybe Monica could tell us about the view.
