This is the Awesomeist, Awesomerer Awesome mailbox yet. Busy..yes matt…but this is what the walk is about…america…… Be Happy, awesome mailbox you rock, bam and sparkle.
They are solar-powered lights. See the small solar panel on top? It’s staked in the ground and when it’s just dark enough, the lights come on. I actually made a solar chandelier with the kind of light on the small mailbox. It’s hanging in my backyard and looks so dang cool when it comes on at night. I LOVE it!
I see clear tubing wrapped around the poles, are those rope lights that light up? Look closely and you can see them and they are wrapped all up and down the mailbox and post and go to the ground. I wonder if the solar panels at the bottom power them and the whole things lights up at night? Neat.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
They are pretty busy, and what are those things down at the bottom? Lights? If so, I could see it for the newspaper, but for the mail?
firecrackers?

What a great idea – Katzien.
Katzien: Maybe when Matt finally sits down and reads all we have written…he will entrust upon you a awesome mailbox too.
I drive by this mailbox every day. The owner decorates it for every holiday/season.
How fun… I wonder what Christmas looks like compared to this!

Yes, calm down! LOL!
Looks like someone’s excited for the 4th of July.
I assume that the light is for the flag even though it is small the owner of the mailbox feels it must have a light at night or be taken down.
