Looks like an updated version of the school I went to as a child. Years earlier it had been 1st through high school. When I brother was there, he finished 9th grade before “going to town” to school. A few years later the dropped 9th and I went through 8th grade there and then went to town. We had a few more students, though. I think the most when I was there was about 30 kids in two rooms. Great education — more kids should have the opportunity to go to a country school.
Eight STAR students at STAR SCHOOL. Sounds like a school with bright kids. What a shining example for the rest of us.
This is more like the size of schools in 18oo’s and 1900’s. It would be very different then what I experienced in reform school, I mean in the larger public schools I attended.
I am sure it is not called reform school anymore. It probably has some sophisticated name like school of higher learning for the behavioral challenged
And out of schools like this all across America…doctors, farmers, lawyers, teachers, pilots, astronauts, etc…good educations given and accepted…and used…all kinds of wonderful people who know education is still the way to go…small communities like this are wonderful…different from where you and I may live…but something “draws” me to it!!!…
This stinks! You can’t play a prank on the teacher, because she’ll know it was you. You can’t be absent, because classes will be cancelled. If you fart…well, you get the idea. I rather go to school in the city, where you have competition, diversity and a jolly good time!!! Love Chicago Public Schools.
Country schools are so interesting…and everyone knows less kids in the classroom = a better education in almost all cases. But 8 students? Wow. That’s a seriously small class. :)
Such a large school for only 8 students. I kind of agree with Josie in Chicago, you can’t pull a prank of skip school or anything like that. Everyone will know. But I’m sure they make the most of what they have there.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
What an interesting environment that would be.

That should have said “my brother” not “I brother”.

oh look who’s back! what, no song to post regarding ‘reform schools’? HA!
It’s the Star School District No. 54 .. http://www.starsd.wednet.edu/
Did you go inside Matt? I like the classrooms, check it out under the In the Classroom link .. http://www.starsd.wednet.edu/classroom.html
How sweet. Thanks for the links Gigi.
I think about how crowded the California schools are. I would have loved for my kids to get an education in a school like this.
I hope they pull the shades and let some light in when the students come…
thanks for the link Gigi…
hmm..that is an average of 1 kid per class. Guarenteed to be validictorian. And can always say I graduated first in my class. Woo hoo.

Good reminder…thanks Matt…

I’m loving the pale yellow paint!
