The People’s Bike Library of Portland
August 20th, 2010
I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out. If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania. You can read all about the details of my trip if you're so inclined.

What a great idea!
What’s so great about it? Are they trying to save money? Kids deserve more than one place to lock up their bikes. If I lived their I’d mad as bunch of hornets.
After I’ve had time to sober, I realize that many of you think I may be a resident of Idiotville, but I assure you I am not. My grammar is usually flawless, but under less than ideal conditions sometimes my thoughts are not relayed correctly to my finger tips. I apologize for any past or future such incidents.

While there you can read about a poster named Barry, who posted back in July from Aachen, Germany. He was in the States and was driving a car on a trip thru WA and OR, when he saw a man pushing a cart near Stonehenge. That jogged his mind, and he convinced his passenger to hang out the window and take a picture of Hobo Matt just walkin’ near Maryhill, WA. You can see that picture on FB.
How cool is that!!!

Thanks! Jeff. Just went back and read it again. I read about Stonehenge earlier in the day, and didn’t go back later to see any additional comments. I see it was late in the afternoon when Barry posted his info.

Ouch – I hope this doesn’t represent the “bad” or “unexpected” end of a zoobombing ride.
For some reason, I ALWAYS have this fear that my front tire is going to come off my bike, when speeding down a hill. I never had that fear as a child!
I wonder how many loaner bikes are used every week? I wanna join! Don’t think I’d fit on a mini-bike, though.
