When I was in Junior High (a few decades and some ago) in South Carolina it was 7th, 8th, and 9th. A while back they changed it to 6th, 7th, and 8th so the 9th graders could really be Freshmen and be at the High School. Just found your site today, Matt. Trying to catch you up and be current. Gonna take care of that tomorrrow hopefully. Good luck and keep it up!
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
I guess that’s okay as long as they didn’t want to call it a middle school.
Junior High in Ohio = 7th, 8th, 9th…not sure I have heard of this anywhere else. It’s ‘cuz we really want to be special and hate following the rules.
Junior High in CA, too, only it’s 6th, 7th, and 8th (or just 7th and 8th, depending on the district). We’re special too.

My husband went to middle school here. Now we’re in SC!
We had a Jr High as well in Connecticut, 7th and 8th grades. Now it’s a Middle School grades 5-8 (new building and location).
