And probably between 2200 and 2300 left to go. I'm making much better time than I expected, walking more miles per day and taking only a few rest days. I now expect to be done in less than seven months total.
If this is the path you take you will be passing thru my home town of Kennewick, Wa.
I been following you along your way and the photos and things you’ve shared with the rest of us are cool to see. I wish you a safe journey on the rest of your quest.
I was about to post this exact message. I’m in Pasco, WA (right next to Kennewick), so Matt let me know if you need anything when you get here and I’ll do my best to help. My house is probably out of the way but if there’s anything else you need, even if it’s just to sit and chat with someone (my 4yo seems to be quite entertaining), lemme know.
Hi! I just read about your walk today and I can’t stop reading your blog. I’m so impressed and I love that you keep everyone updated with great pictures and explanations along the way! :) I will be with you till the end! :) When you get to the end you should just keep going and go south and end up in LA, we’d be more than happy to be your tour guides around here!! HAPPY WALKING! Be safe and have fun!
I too found your walk featured on Yahoo today. I started on Day 1 and have enjoyed this blog thoroughly. I have to admit though, I’m disappointed that you won’t be coming through Wyoming. I’m going to make your blog my homepage for the duration of your walk. Good luck and good weather!
just read about your blog today on Neatorama and have spent the last few hours going through your blog from day 1…awesome to see people’s generosity and keep up the walking adventure! If you stop through Fairview, OR we’d be happy to have you!
stay safe & dry!
The Whipples
Great Falls, Montana!! I remember the first time I stepped off the plane in Montana coming from New York and nearly had an anxiety attack from the huge sky! Incredible place! You’ll love it!!
I stayed on a ranch 2 hours (driving) south of GF, at the base of Lewis and Clark National Park for a summer. It was fun times! Wonderful memories! Gorgeous photographs!!
Have fun!!! It’s an amazing place to experience!
Found your blog a few days ago and I’ve been catching up. It makes for an engrossing read, and I’m in need of something to do at the moment (yay joblessness!) Bit of a shame you’ll be bypassing my home state of Wyoming, but Montana is also gorgeous. As pretty as the mountains are though, they’re likely to slow you down a bit. Worth the trade in my opinion.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Sounds like you will finish the walk before the snow flies. Stay safe!
Maybe you could walk back across the country through the south. :-)
I’m sure you have accounted for it, but you’ll probably make less time when you hit the Rockies.

Why not a straight line and end up in San Francisco?
