It looks as if you’ll be in for some stormy weather for a bit; hope you have your rain gear handy.
Where do you/will you go if there is lightening? You’re a lightening rod out there on the road all by yourself, and getting under the trees is not a good idea.
Be Safe the sun shall return. Like Karen says you might be the tallest thing out there.
Peace and may the day turn better and no matter the course..enjoy the beauty that is today.
If you see lightening while walking, find a low spot in a field, or better yet a ditch, and lay flat. I love this picture. You would expect to see a shot looking straight up the road, standing on the center dotted line. But no! This picture, while it appears off-center, is actually nearly perfectly aligned. The white line is in the center of the frame, and the horizon bisects the middle. Very cool!!!
I live in So.Illinois. It is 90 degrees with a heat index of 100-105. To top that off I have to go mow. Hope you don’t get into any storms, but be thankful for the overcast conditions and the cooler temps.
Have given your web site to several people. I think what you are doing is great. Wish I could walk part of it with you.
I have been following you on here and I am just amazed at your willpower! good job on seeing the world one step at a time and god bless all them great people for taking you into their homes and feeding you and keeping you dry!
You already passed me. I am in jackson Michigan (south of Lansing) just curious are you walking back home or flying? lol
I’ve only been through that region once, but as I recall it’s REALLY flat – for hundreds of miles. From here to the Rockies will look pretty much like this photo (probably with fewer trees). And you’re walking against the prevailing wind. Lightning may be an occasional hazard but the wind may be a constant nuisance. Good luck, Matt. This could be the toughest part of your journey.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.

looks like a beautiful day to me. any day outside is a great day to me
Do you walk on the left or right side of the road?
I have a cousin that says anyday you are upright and vertical is a good day! Happy walking!

Hope you don’t mind but I’m using this as my desktop wallpaper. Love it.
You’ll probably see more of this the further west you go.
