I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.

Here's my progress so far:
Are you freaking out to be in the midst of commerce and PEOPLE?
Really. This is the most civilization I think he’s seen in a week at least? Hope you stocked up real good there Matt. And hope Scott gave you some good tips on some place to eat.
the plague has ended. Mankind has returned….You are Legend Matt.
Wow – at least it’s not another ghost town! Civilization!
Look at the storefronts! Makes me think of small town Elba, Alabama, except their stores surround the courthouse square.
Mountains are beautiful (Again!).
Aren’t they though?!? Love how it’s just there at the end of town by what this picture looks like. Amazing little place. Reminds me of some little towns around here but some have more traffic along with the historic stores/charm.
I love small towns like this. We explore them in Northern Michigan whenever we can.
This is postcard perfect, with a flag and gorgeous background as bonus.
The move Dante’s peak was Filmed right here in our little town,Wallace Idaho…
Big Scott – you sure have a beautiful town and lovely scenery to match!
Wow. Did any locals get to be in it? How neat to have a movie filmed in your little town.
Love the small towns of wallace and kellogg-the last stop light on the interstate system was there!
Oh my goodness!! What a gorgeous little town!! Look at the amazing, historical buildings! I swear, I have an architecture junkie stuck inside me. :) I just find it all so fascinating!
Beautiful quaint little town and looks so clean! Big Scott you must be cleaning more than the side of the road! ha ha. No wonder you want to do your part to keep it clean. It’s gorgeous! Something to be very proud of indeed.
What a great main street and mountain backdrop…
Great bars & antique shops in Wallace!
all this reminds me of a man known as Big John Wallace. Harry Chapin Memory.
I love this picture! Small town with a mountain in the background. This must be an awesome place to live. It kinda reminds me of the town in Northern Exposure (anyone remember that show?).
Wallace is adorable! I must visit.
What a great picture…small town, clean and welcoming…the only thing I would like to see…a festival or a parade right down the main street…when we travel I love to in a serendipitous way drive into small towns and find some celebration going on…arts, crafts, food, etc…we have had this happen many times during family vacations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa…etc…
But I know it is not only the Midwest that is full of summer celebrations…right in Wallace, ID, there must be a few…and the town looks like a perfect place for one…
Wallace has lots of Festival’s all Summer long. The is The Huckleberry festival Aug 20th Throw 23rd & all my NEW Hobo Friend’s are Welcome to Join
OPP’S,,, The next one is The Huckleberry festival Aug 20th Throw 23rd & all my NEW Hobo Friend’s are Welcome to Join
People!! After all the ghost town, empty mines, and rocky roads you have stumbled upon civilization again! I hope you enjoyed a nice meal in a restaurant and found some friendly folks to chat with during your stay!
Beautiful Pic, probably the best one yet. I LOVE small towns that look like this. Although I have never been to one. Would love to though. I always like seeing small towns in the movies too!
