The cloud reflections on the water almost look like algae or something in the water. Sunrises and sunsets are so beautiful and peaceful. Awesome pictures today.
Civil Twilight….I’ve recently learned that’s what this type of shot is called (whether it be sunrise or sunset). I think that’s my favorite time to shoot pictures. Matt’s got quite the eye for these things it seems.
I literally caught my breath when I clicked to this post. My mouth hung open for a few seconds just staring. Absolutely stunning. Wow! It’s now my desktop picture. The shadowy tree picture I replaced was also one of Matt’s. I’m so sad that he’s almost to Rockaway, but I know he’s looking forward to finishing. I’ll miss everyone here.
Matt, you’ve taken some amazing photos along the way, but I think this one is my absolute favorite (so far). I agree with katizien – I gasped when this shot appeared on the screen, absolutely gorgeous!
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
This is so beautiful and peaceful! I have really enjoyed your pictures. Can’t wait to see the rest of your journey.

Once again I must agree with you there my good friend. I though algea/summer scum…but these are the clouds. Cool reflection shot. Awesome as usual.
Looks to me like floating cotton candy! :)
Awesome!
Awesome symmetry!

I’m loving the clouds both above and its reflection below. Great capture of the sunrise.
The water is so clear and smooth like glass. Looks completely untouched!
I just set this as my screen picture.
Me, too. A lot of Our Matt’s pictures find a home on my desktop. ;o)
Looks like a very beautiful morning for you Matt. Thanks for sharing it with us!

BEAUTIFUL. GORGEOUS. AMAZING.
How early does Matt get up in the morning! The sun is barely above the horizon!

Incredible! Your pics will give your memories for a lifetime!
Walking in the morning at sunrise is the best…especially if it looks like that.
I can feel the stillness of it.
man, it must be great waking up to that! is the silence deafening?
lovely picture. I’m really enjoying ALL of the pix, but this one is particularly striking
I’m not an outdoor person… never done camping in my life. but this picture makes me think how nice it would be to wake up into this beautiful moment.
