This is what the eastern side of Washington looks like…then he will cross an “invisible” wall into the greenery everyone comes to expect Washington to be. Jim’s right…there is a beauty all it’s own out in this area…
Is any body living here? Next door perhaps? Old abandoned remnants of a life passed. Sad beauty in there. Beautiful green mixed in with the “dead” looking grass and hillside.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Welcome back Matt, glad to hear from you again. Looks like some desolate walking area, not at all what I expected in Washington!

Is this a movie set???…guess not…you will some be into the green country again…enjoy this though Matt…it has a beauty all it’s own…
That rocky ridge in the back look interesting and CLIMBABLE!
Anything burning in the fire barrel?
As of 2000 Census, Washtucna had 260 people. Famous for Palouse Falls. Very cool.
Peace, from Michelle in Providence
Ok, technically the outskirts on the southern part of town, but you walked right through us!
I was in Spokane!
DRAT!!
Bummer!! Go down the road and look Matt up… if your back from Spokane that is….

I see evidence of the scablands in the background!
It’s a pretty deceptive shot. The large house at the end of the street in this photo:

is what this small garage is right behind. :)
Drat! I missed you by a few miles (I’m in Connell, a little to the west along 260).
Agree with Michelle that photo is a little deceiving, Kahlotus is a nice little town/oasis in the middle of dry desolate desert.
