Nice to remember him/them but why put it so low on the pole? You’d have to stoop way down to see it and read it. I’d think they could have at least tried to put something at eye level so more people can see it and read it.
What a horrible memorial! “hey, let’s fondly remember the guy whose tiny plaque gets pissed and crapped on all day by whatever dogs roam this sad stretch of sidewalk”…no offense Katina, but I would petition for a relocation of this plaque.
Sometimes, you just can’t explain why City Council does things a certain way, or who thought something was a good idea and voted for it. I too would want to relocate the plaque.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
The post should have been painted with a helix of red and white in honor of the Mann family.
Agreed- Gigi….. what does green say about a barber??
After cutting hair for 90 years the thanks you’ll get is getting peed on – a bittersweet honor indeed.
Perhaps a poodle’s revenge…
Once I was standing on a street corner and instead of this dog peeing on the post, he had his way with my leg. I was humiliated and felt violated.
Is that a lamp post (doesn’t look like a barber pole, to me)?
Dogs don’t discriminate…any post will do…or doo doo…
That’s awesome! This is my grandfather and fathers memorial. Barber shop is now an ice cream parlor.
That’ great! How neat for you to see this pic here.
Hi Katina Mann, and thanks for the insider information.
Would that be Earl Wainwright Mann? See page 104 here:

Thanks for finding that article Karen, yes that is my dad.

Not sure why the light pole project put the plaques so low. It really isn’t that hard to read, but John is right it’s on the disrespect.
