Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail
August 17th, 2010
I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out. If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania. You can read all about the details of my trip if you're so inclined.

Matt, That is a great trail, I have walked the full length, You are almost to the Beach in Rockaway, keep going!

Dorinda…this is what it looks like at my house in Vancouver, WA too! Isn’t it GORGEOUS?? I love the area Matt is in and really, our whole area…gotta love the trees. :)
This is what it looks like in my yard, too, here in the Catskills. There are little roads like this one all over the place up here, too.
We are lucky to live in such beautiful areas, and to have them all over the entire country.
Oh WOW! I am planning on moving to Oregon, glad to see it is as beautiful as I imagined!!

Awesome… love how the ferns carpet the forest floor… and the shade of the trees must have felt good.
It’s so fun watching you get ever closer to me in Portland! You’ve seen so much of what Oregon has to offer so far — I love the high desert!– and you still have so much more lush greenery to see. Enjoy it, and if you need any PDX tips please let me know! You *must* eat at some food carts and stop by Powells. Oh, and a Voodoo Doughnut for energy!

Me too Candice. My family and I have always vacationed in the mountains of NC. There is a beauty that can’t be experienced by picture. The sights and smells of the forest and all the wildlife. I am sure that there are similarities of the beautiful forests out west. Just love it.
Now that you have seen vast portions of this great country, do you truly understand the words and meanings behind “America the Beautiful”?
