  1. John in MI says:

Knowing birds, I’d take the one on top.

  2. MT Walt says:

    Now that’s very different.

  3. Bev from Vancouver WA says:

    Great reuse of the ladder:)

  4. Julie in Cincinnati says:

I’ve never seen anything like this. That’s crazy!

  5. Alisa 11 says:

Very cute! I wonder if birds actually use them. And Matt made it to Forest Grove! He’ll be heading into the hills next and then the coast!!!

  6. Scot in Forest Grove says:

    Welcome to the Grove, Matt!

  7. MN Roxanne says:

I like this idea… what a happy garden!

  8. Dorinda from Mentor, Oh. says:

Charming. What a neat reuse of materials. I would’ve probably thrown the ladder away but this person put it to good use. Don’t know about the bird houses so low to the ground though. To easy for cats to get in!

  9. EDL in MN says:

How do the birds decide who gets to live where? First come, first serve?

  10. JessieBelle says:

Just noticed on the map how close you are to the end…just wanted to ask, tell me you are going to go though “Idiotville” on your way. That is amazing.

    • JesseBelle, I am sure Matt will walk through Idiotville….because that is the way to Rockaway, right? Is there a sign there so he will recognize it? I bet you will be running to the road every few minutes to see if he is coming! Maybe just take a deck chair and a book and a cooler with cool drinks (and a sandwich or two) and sit and read and wait! Just don’t fall asleep, because Matt is such a gentleman he will tiptoe past so as not to wake you!

      • charlie says:

as idiotville has been a ghost town for ages and ages now, i would doubt there will be signs, unless it has become a tourist site.

  11. Karen Too says:

Love the bird ladder, but I have to ask: How does one get up/down to that door on the second floor of this house?

  12. Christine says:

    # 12 woo hoo

  13. Gigi says:

A housing complex for the birds, how cool is that? Reminds me of the bird friendly tree .. http://imjustwalkin.com/2010/05/22/a-bird-friendly-tree/

  14. If Matt is going through Forest Grove I hope he stops at the McMenamin’s Grand Lodge. That is a real landmark going into Forest Grove. I have been hoping all along he would find one of them to go to….this might be his last chance.

Stop, stop, Matt! Lift a pint of Ruby Red for me, please!

    • Don in Tennessee says:

      KJarin

This place looks really nice. I think I found the ruby red-Is it the beer made with raspberry puree? If so, that sounds very good. Thanks for the link.

  15. Well, my only comment:…as my Mom used to always say, “It’s for the birds.”…

  16. Jeff says:

Awesomeist bird houses or bird house display #2 or #3

  17. Candice in Alabama says:

What a great use for an old ladder!

  18. Jonathan says:

Is there really an Idiotville, OR? It’s showing up on the map above!

  19. Don in Tennessee says:

Obviously this is a lover of birds. My wife and I love birds also. We have 6 or 7 hummingbirds at our feeders right now and they are so much fun to watch. Had to catch one in the neighbors garage last week with a net (another neighbors) used for skimming a pool. I thought the bird was going to wear me out before I caught him, but I finally got him and turned him loose outside the garage. We also have a lot finches, eastern bluebirds, red winged blackbirds, bats etc. Some birds are very picky about where they nest-bluebirds are an example.

    • karen428 says:

We love watching the “hummers” we have in Arkansas also! We have bluebird boxes and this yr they nested in 2 different boxes, neat to watch. The ladder is a neat use of old materials…but like you say, birds are picky!

  20. CP in MI says:

    What a neat idea.

  21. Barb V from Michigan says:

    A cat-friendly ladder.

  22. JessieBelle says:

Unfortuently, I don’t live in Idiot. lol…I just saw it on the map, and thought it would be funny for Matt to take his picture there! :-)
