I know what you mean Raymond – I like coming ‘late to the party’ (i.e., NOT being first to post) because I enjoy reading all the comments but don’t have a lot of time to go back and review old posts for updates unless I’m tracking a specific thread. I thought for sure there’d be more chatter by now but I guess not…
Come to think of it, Jim’s idea of a Sunday afternoon nap sounds VERY appealing…may just have to do that! : )
ahh what is that cat thinking. He is looking straight at you, us……hmmm cats know everything..what is he trying to tell us………oh I get it….Matt he says he would give you a tour of the historic house…but he is afraid of the Bear Spray.
Raymond in Alabama…must be Sunday afternoon nap time…Matt doesn’t take a break so maybe many want to rest up for him…just a thought…it probably is not a good way to measure the excitement factor…there may be serious depression going on…I believe the cat has got it up on us…some way or another…
Jim, you’ve got the excitement factor about right – I suspect most of us are super excited to see Matt reach his final destination and would love to be there at the end. For this gal, the funds and circumstances just don’t allow but Matt’s photos of the NW have certainly put thoughts of a vacation in the area in my head!
Saw your blog about the Great Get Together earlier this afternoon…hope you’re not too disappointed, but many communities in the state have asked for and gotten waivers to the state law forbidding early school starts…there will certainly be some disappointed kids in Minnesota this year when they find themselves sitting in classes in August!
You were in Principal at a school north of Minneapolis – which one?
Jim, I think you may be on to something about the depression thing. Everyone deals with stuff in a different way. I have been feeling a little sad most of the week and couldn’t quite put my finger on it. But just speaking for myself, I have to back slowly away. Can’t quite do the cold turkey thing. So I am here, out of sight, out of mind to everyone else. But you can bet that even if I don’t post anymore I am going to be watching and keeping up with the last events to come. I just hate long goodbyes. At least now I know I can be reading your blogs in the future for a good dose of inspiration! X0X0X0X0 TO EVERYONE IN MATT LAND!
Awwwwww….I LOVE cats!!! This one is so cute a fluffy! This cat is looking right at you. Probably was hoping you’d come a pet it or feed it or both. Yes, cats do know it all but they can be funny and not let you in on it. By the sounds of the sign it must be a historic home that was rehabed? Curious just like the cat.
LOL. Yes I would say that’s why the cat didn’t like you much.
There is a commercial out there that shows a cat hissing while in the bird cage and as they pan out the place is a mess and the bird is on the floor laughing and saying “here kitty kitty kitty kitty” and laughing some more. It’s so funny.
The porch does look freshly painted, what a beautiful house, I love Matts sense of humor, we all need to slow down and pay attention to our surroundings, let’s open our minds on each of our daily travels and observe somehting Matt would want to take a photo of, a silly sign, a beautiful cloud, the trip would continue through us. Maybe someone could start a blog…after Matt, then what? That way we could each post our daily observation. The power of Matts trip has effected us all. The people he has met along the way shows we are all on the Hobo Planet together.
Coincidently I will be in Rockaway Beach on Sept 14, doing some family reasearch on the Clatsop Indians.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
I cannot believe more people are not on here when Matt gets close to the finish Line. I have never been first on here and it’s 2:30 in the afternoon.
The cat look’s to be well fed by someone. I would like to have the old chair on the porch.

Dang I hate when I forget to proof read! Make that “You were THE Principal…”
Patty – I hate it too when I forget to proofread before pounding that ENTER button!

OX back at yah Lisa !! It is sad – I told Matt he walked too fast :-) I hope he continues a blog of sorts as he continues to walk where ever he lands.
I’m not sure what this sign means either…but that cat looks very suspicious. :)
i think that sign should have read ….funded by a grant…..from the cat!
good one marcus…. I love cats and I always tell folks the cat lets us live here….
Dogs have masters, cats have servants! : )
Pretty smart cats then. They train us well.
when in doubt ask the cat….cats know a lot but they aren’t blabber mouths.

I love cats too, Dorinda – and THAT is a beautiful cat!
Yes it is. I want it, come to me fluffy kitty… he he. : )
I tought my bird to do that, say “here kitty kitty kitty”. Maybe that is why that cat did not like me much. But I have repented.

I may be wrong but it looks like the house was in need of repair and they got a grant from the Forest Grove Historic Landmarks Board…

I believe that cat is saying – stop and scratch a while!
Oh yeah!! For sure! or for Purrrrr…….
No, he’s saying “come up here, I double dog dare you!” ;-)
