So reads some text painted on the column across the way (closer look). According a historical exhibit in the lobby here at Building B, these are Army Post Office destinations. Other destination names I spotted on columns in the atrium: the Balkans, Greece, Portugal, the Azores, and India.
Yes, in context, sometimes these little designations mean something but out of context they are just funny. Back in the early eighties, sometime after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, I worked at a place that handled academic subscriptions. We got a piece of returned mail with a stamped message that said: “Already Left Iran” … in context it was probably a bad translation but in reality it appeared to indicate that the addressee had made it out just in time, one of many, no doubt.
