Day 3136

Walk with the wind

July 31st, 2020

"When historians pick up their pens to write the story of the 21st century, let them say that it was your generation who laid down the heavy burdens of hate at last and that peace finally triumphed over violence, aggression and war. So I say to you, walk with the wind, brothers and sisters, and let the spirit of peace and the power of everlasting love be your guide."

- From an essay by John Lewis, one of our greatest walkers, written shortly before his recent death

    Thanks for the links Matt.
This was a great history lesson for an Aussie who tries to take every opportunity to learn.
It saddens me though, that 55 years after the Selma to Montgomery marches there is still the need for the Black Lives Matter movement. I hope that my daughter and her generation can at some point live in a society where everyone, no matter what their colour, sex or financial position, is treated with kindness, compassion and fairness.
