I have eaten bear…
My best friends dad as a child use to make trips from NC to Michigan and go during bear season.
His wife would crock pot bear meat.
In all honesty.. it was pretty damned good!
(I’m glad to unload that from my chest!)
I wonder if this bear has fooled any real bears who might have been seeking some companionship? It might be worth setting up a camera here to catch all the hilarity.
At first I was gonna say something funny and then upon looking closer it looks like a memorial of some kind. Maybe a bear attack where someone died? Or it could just be someone fooling around and putting that bear there dressed up with whatever they could find to dress him up with. But I say it’s a memorial of some kind.
Tried to find out about bear on side of road on Wilson River Highway. Nada. The red ribbon AND flag make me wonder if it was a political addition to a bear. Maybe the bear is near the Bear River? Or the beginning of the National Forest? At any rate, this bear looks peaceful enough. Hope Matt didn’t mace it too heavily! I mean, one has to mace first and then ask questions if faced with a bear!
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
This bear could use a little dressing up.

So that’s where all the bears went.

He’s getting closer!!!
The bear spray finally came in handy; that bear looks really PETRIFIED!!!
Hee hee….you took the words right out of my mouth. :)
Watch out for the little bells.
That is so funny, Christopher!
Did something happen by this roadside? I see Papa Bear wearing a police tape as a belt and holding a miniature flag.
could be a memorial bear-flag, flowers, yellow ribbon….wonder who put it there.
The tape is a very clever disguise…SPRAY IT AND RUUUUUN! :)
the “yellow ribbon” looks like a CRIME SCENE, DO NOT CROSS kinda ribbon…
i dunno about this.. get the hellaoutta there.
toy slayer booby trap
Matt is that Medusa Bear Spray you got there? Welcome back.

I think it’s Yogi look for boo-bo
I’m glad that this is the only close-up you got of a bear… good to hear from you again Matt…

Finally! The bear I’ve been worrying about!
He’s festive! You’ll just have to grin and …. it. ;-)
I think it’s Madame Tussauds first wooden figure… of Smokey! They only used ‘wax’ to polish it. Part of the celebrity forest characters exhibit.
