Yep. Sure enough, Matt, it says you’re a champion. A hero. A guy nice enough to share the experience of a lifetime with anyone interested in sharing. Pull up that sign and wear it around your neck on your flight home. And, most of all, my brother…THANK YOU!
What, the trees and shrubs are reading champions? Pretty darn good trees you got out there in Oregon. Champion readers. Nice sign but what and why is it out there?
Just looked up “Reading Champion Tillamook Library”. It was a campaign put on by the Tillamook Library to encourage summer reading for children, teens and adults. Their slogan was “Dip your Toes into Reading”.
Maybe it was put there by someone who has been following Matt’s blog, and knew he would take a picture and post it for all of us Reading Champions on imjustwalkin.com.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Haha, I have to get my reading glasses to read it ;-)
This sign usually goes in someone’s front yard.
My guess is there is another hand drawn sign on the flip side facing the road…..just guessing. It says “Way to go Matt! Rockaway is thataway!”
Or “Yard Sale – This Saturday 8-5”
Should say Walking Champion Matt Green… welcome !!
Wait for it……………..It says TREADING CHAMPION! Ba ha ha ha ha! I crack myself up! ;-)
LOL!
katzien – go check the Matt Green facebook page – photos
Candice – Great sign! Love it. How appropriate!
That’s right! We at the TCL is proud of the fact that we paid to be the champ, and if you don’t like it, tough! We’re revokin’ your library card.

Nice slogan! I would add to it:
Dip your toes into reading….but don’t drop your book in the water!
If you can read the sign, you are a reading champion!
HaHa, good one.
Hey this sign reminds me, you haven’t had a hand written sign in awhile. Bummer….oh well, you’re almost there anyways
Yep, they’ve been reading all right! Not weeding, not mowing, not watering . . . but that’s the power of a good book. READ ON!
