You know, Ms. Kiviat, that is a very true statement. But what is also true (unfortunately) is that most of us would pick a road and drive down it-way above the speed limit-angry at the people and vehicles we encounter-to get to somewhere else-where we didn’t really want to be. Following Matt’s journey is slowing me down again-as I was when I was younger. Now I’m slowing down for my 7 year old. I really want to take at least a 3 day hike/camp with him sometime soon. Live off of what we can carry in the wilderness for a few days-fish and hike and camp. Hope I can arrange it within the next year or so-about to be 43 and not in the best shape or getting any younger.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
It’s amazing how many people are moved to make art. Pick a random road in America and walk down it…

You know how the old saying goes, “when life gives you a stump, a wheelbarrow, and flower seeds… throw the seeds away and get fake flowers instead.”
My whole life I’ll never understand people who “plant” fake flowers in their yards and containers. I just don’t get it.
