Matt, this is completely not about grandparenting!
1. If you continue on the northern route, once you get into Oregon, you might really enjoy walking the Historic Columbia Gorge Highway. I did a marathon a couple years back that followed the highway from The Dalles in the east to where it’s closed to traffic in Mosier, and becomes a multimodal trail there (called the two tunnels) which goes into Hood River. It’s really beautiful, and for the most part, traffic is slow — however, in portions there is very little shoulder.
2. Do you have a place to stay yet in Portland, OR? I’d be glad to offer you my backyard/back porch.
I’m really enjoying reading your tumblr blog, and am envious of your travels…
I found your blog when a friend posted your blog on her facebook page. Your journey, so far has taken you 71 days while it only took me 3 hours. I now look forward to travelling the rest of the way you.
The pictures and items of interest you post are fun and interesting. I have laughed quite a bit while catching up on your journey.
Matt~
My son is the 13 year old Scout that emailed you last week. We are REALLY enjoying your travels. Praying for your continued safe passage and really enjoying your pics and comments. God Speed young man.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
Well congrats to whoever they are… again :)
