    A clean community—articulate, too?

I wonder what exactly “A Clean Community” means. How does a community earn that designation, or more likely, how does a community decide to designate it as such? Was there a borough council meeting in which members complained about how dirty their community was, and they decided to enact a specific program to mitigate the uncleanness?

I’m assuming “clean” refers to a lack of litter. It could also refer, I suppose, to vices (strip clubs, porn stores, bars, etc.), or pollution, or lack of hobos (ahem).

It’s just hilarious that a borough would brag about its cleanliness, as if most other boroughs are in fact NOT clean.

The great thing is that no one since 1894 has entered Rockaway Borough with a cart like what’s on that sign. UNTIL NOW, BUDDY!!! You’ll leave there a town hero. Well, a borough herough rather.

  3. Barbara Kiviat says:

Sweetie, I’ve got a TELEVISION at my desk.

  4. Jason Eppink says:

Debra and I drove by this sign last Sunday on our way to a wedding in New Jersey!

  5. Candice In Alabama says:

Thank to Barbara K. for “cleaning” up that matter with her link. It’s one of THOSE “clean” communities!
