Day 22

While I was eating the chips from the previous post

April 17th, 2010

Chuck invited me in for coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I took a water fill-up instead. Fred and Ralph were really excited about my walk; Ralph showed his admiration with that most universal of gestures: the fist bump. Chuck also said something that I'm quickly coming to understand (I'm paraphrasing): People are the same as they've always been; it's just sensational news coverage (and the human tendency to focus on the sensational) that makes the world seem like such a dangerous place. For the record, this view was excellently expressed by Rosemary in a comment on an earlier post.

Left to right: Shokie (the dog), Fred, Ralph, Courtney, Birdie, Brandon, Chuck

I love that:) as i read and look at your journey i am equally concerned and excited for you.I am so Happy that you are proving that people are inherently good and want to help for the sake of helping fellow man.I have discovered that as i have had my own diffrent journey over the past two years and finding out that people are as kind and giving as i am was what made my own journey worth it.I hope you are finding what you were looking for.

ironic that the shirt chuck is wearing was inspired by forest gump on his run across the country

What you wrote is so true.
    People are good.
Media makes it seem there are killer rapists all over.
    But it is not true.
99.9% of people are great or at least tolerable.
I used to hitch hike all over the country back in the 70’s.
All I ever met were good people.
I had zip money, a pack with a sleeping bag and a big sheet of plastic.
Every day was a huge adventure.
    I totally cherish those days.
Were the best days of my life.
Gave me a great understanding of people and life.

    Just for the records :
I am not sure that the expression “… most universal of gestures: the fist bump” is quite correct.
I live half of my life in Europe and haven’t seeing it, and other half in Mexico, where is hardly use.
Wikipedia said it came from baseball, and that will make sens.

    – – – –

    People are great all around.

I wish I knew better your country.

Shame on you, I should be working… or walking.

    Cheers.
