If this is Mike Campbell, he is a former neighbor of mine. If you have any contact info, I’d like to see if he’s on Facebook! Haven’t seen him in years.
again thanks for the trip, i guess it’s the only vacation i can afford for the time. sucks being unemployed, and stuck with a pace maker to keep you alive. thanks
I loved reading your story and actually printed it for future reading when I need that “fix”. We met a young man who was on an around the world solo trip last year but his journey involved cars & plane. We insisted he stay with us while on the West coast and were so honored just to be part of his journey. He introduced us to the whole couch-surfing philosophy but YOU have even taken it a step further, one step at a time. You have to do this for all of us cubicle dwellers! Thank you and safe travels~
Couch surfing is real! http://www.couchsurfing.org/ You can join the site, sign up to host people on your, or just meet for coffee, show them around your town, etc. I too am an office worker, but at least I have a door I can close and a large picture window. I haven’t done much this morning except check with Matt’s travels. Doh! Back to work…
I just wanted to let you know that I (and many of my friends) are really impressed that you’ve decided to do this. It’s so easy anymore to get locked into the idea that there’s one predetermined method to living a happy life in America. I’ll be following along with your journey to see how it goes. Good luck man!
God Bless your “angels” along your path and thank you for sharing your journey with us. I’m inspired and will also be following along each day. I pray for protection and safety and that you will enjoy your time with Him out there on the road.

This is fantastic. I’m glad you not only decided to set out on your journey, but also to blog about it. Hopefully this piece will show us how wonderful everyday people are and will combat the media’s image of violence or fear. It’s inspiring.
The true nature of man is good. And the only way to combat fear is to do what it is that is causing fear. You “just walking” embodies the live and beating spirit of mankind as it should be. I’m very happy to see someone out there doing something that others think is “against the grain” but to you feels completely natural. Beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your adventure with all of us. I wish I was that brave. I believe that people are genuinely good and will help if and when they can. Please be safe !
Matt, thank you form sharing your adventure with us, you are truly inspiring. May your journey be one of success and inspiration. MIKE, you’re a good man!
Hi Matt, I hope you meet all kinds of whackos abd crazies,(in a good way). Enjoy your life and remember, you are doing something 99.9 % people wouldn’t even attempt. Go get em tiger!

awesome adventure, love the daily updates and I will be following along as it is just so relaxing to see your pictures and meet all the wonderful people you have been with along the way. Everyone needs to know that there is good, fun exciting world and people in the world rather and the skuttle butt drama. Thanks its great.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
and a Happy Birthday!

WAIT WAIT WAIT pizza slices for only ONE DOLLAR?
Jason–you can get those here too–but trust me, you get what you pay for.
Ha, true! Especially if they’re being sold alongside fried chicken.
Jason-in South Carolina you can get a whole large pizza-pepperoni or cheese-from Little Caesar’s for five bucks.
.
WHAT. Truly South Carolina is the promised land!
(Typed as I’m noshing on my $16 NYC pizza.)
Doh….just paid $80 for 4 large pizzas!
Sucker!
This is such a refreshing break from oil spills, wars, and such! The United States is so much more! THANK YOU for sharing your adventure with us!
