I have personally seen the world’s tallest six pack. I have a best friend that lives in LaCrosse that I have visited several times over the last 30 years.
Continue your trek, be safe and enjoy the adventure.
In the 1970’s I hiked through the Applicaian Trails (Ala to VA)–it was a wonderful experience full of great memories.
Follow your heart–often our feet are guided by a higher cause. For those of us who believe in God–we know that at times he will put you in a ceratin place for a reason–that you may not even realize at the time.
Go with it. Enjoy every day. Life is not a dress rehearsal.
Happy Birthday! Came across your story on MSN and think it is amazing that you would take on this adventure.
Looks like it has been a great trip so far. Good Luck! PS. hope you get a chance to try one of those 6 packs today to celebrate!
Hey my dad works there – largest 6 pack in the world! I came across your story while suffering the internet at lunch and got curious – I admire your ambition and dreams to just go – I wish i could just go like that. maybe at some point in my life I can. I envy you and praise you – its a wonderful thing you are doing and the things you must see have to be beautiful – a headfull of beautiful images and memeories…congrats!
2 people walking across the USA, in less than 4 days. Phil Woods is a 72 year old retiree who was in la crosse on friday on his 2,700 mile trek, To bad you 2 could not of hooked up and met, that would of been a really intgeresting story as well. Maybe you 2 could race to the finish. His website http://walkwithwoods.com/2010/Home.html
That would be really cool. I just read this story a couple days ago at work on MSN and have spent the last few days going back to the beginning of the journey and looking at all the pics with the comments. Too bad that Phil is traveling N to S and you are going E to W. The two of you meeting at the same place at the same time and traveling to each of your destinations would have made this an even more intriguing and amusing story. To hear your comments and his on the sights you see along the way would be too cool!!! Happy Birthday Matt. I still have family in NY & NJ and I hope you continue to meet people along the way who appreciate your journey, ambition and just over all peace of mind that you are truly doing something you believe in. Can’t wait to see the rest of your trip. I hope that you start getting more pics of you with the folks you meet. Take care & God Bless.
Started your site from the beginning this morning. I have looked at and read each picture and comment. It has been over 12hrs. Today is the 30th so I have a few more days to go to catch up. Just wanted to type Happy Birthday! And Good Luck Thru your journey.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We hope you have a great day of walking today. Can’t wait to see you next week.
Love,
Mom and Dad

Happy Birthday, Matt. I must have gotten the dates mixed up, as I posted a wish back on the posts when you were with your brother.
Oh, well! No harm in extra birthday wishes.
What a wholly freeing way to spend your birthday! Aren’t you the lucky one!
