  1. Doug Gray says:

What the heck is frisbee golf?

    • Jenypher O. says:

It’s kinda like golf. They spread out the “holes”, which are really poles with inverted wire trashcan things on them, and you throw your frisbee in the general direction and try to get it to land in the basket. The frisbees are thinner than normal ones. We went camping at Lake Casitas in Ojai, CA once and one of the “holes” was right behind our tent site. It was fun to watch, especially when these Frisbees came flying out of nowhere.

  2. jay dehart says:

hmm wounder if they have football bats too? I love what your doing, its very inspirational. “Life’s too short to live for somebody else. Live for yourself and do what you love”

  3. Jason says:

Ah, frisbee golf, you in THAT area……lol

  4. Tess says:

Frisbee golf is where you try to throw the frisbee into a hoop type thing.

  5. A.C. Stran says:

Where I grew up, we’d attempt to hit a pole with the frisbee.

  6. Doris says:

I remember those Sinclair service stations from when I was a young girl. Which was a million years ago.

  7. Krystal :0) says:

    i dont get it

  8. Kate says:

If you want to see one with a dinosaur, there is a Sinclair with one on Century Avenue at I 94 in Woodbury, MN. It might be not too far off your route. I work a block away at 3M, so I see it all the time :)

  9. George Broze says:

Wow! I have not seen a Sinclair station in 30-40 years.

  10. Russ Toelke says:

    Frisbee golf!
It’s golf with a Frisbee. It was invented in the 60s in California (natch) when someone took literally the inscription on the old Frisbees that said “invent games”. The original laid-back pastime was a group of folks taking turns determining a tee line and a target (a tree, a pole, whatever). You throw from behind where it landed, and the person to have the fewest throws on the course wins, just like ball golf.
We’ve since standardized courses and tee areas and established rules of play for tournaments. There are courses all over the country! Check PDGA.com (Professional Disc Golf Association). (Frisbee is a copyrighted name, so we call it disc golf.)

P.S. Love the site. Nice pics and stories!

  11. Eric K says:

Ahhhh, Sinclair. It’s a milestone for travelers to start or stop seeing them.

  12. Karen Too says:

There is a Web site for just about everything. I cannot believe I found this, but here it is:

    http://www.sinclairoil.com/locations.asp

(FYI, this is what I put in Google “Sinclair gas station locations,” and up popped this handy little site!)

  13. 'gina says:

There are frisbee (disc) golf baskets at chestnut ridge park in hamburg new york fyi…..

  14. Zane says:

I’ve been following your trip for a few weeks now and I’m trying to get caught up. I’m loving reading about all the great places you’ve been and wonderful people you have met. I am most jealous as I’d love to do what you are doing.

No one else has mentioned it, so I thought I would. Sinclair Oil is referenced to in most of Pixar’s films (Toy Story series and Cars) as the company in the films is Dinoco and has a dinosaur as its logo, similar to Sinclair Oil.
