Good ol’ 34th St
June 18th, 2010
I'm walking across America.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out. If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania. You can read all about the details of my trip if you're so inclined.

Such a beautiful combination of the natural elements, looooove the clear blue skies, green grass and the dirt road, some how very inviting to take a deep breath….aaahhhh! . . . (sigh)

I have been noticing how they have all these sequentially numbered streets and avenues out in the middle of nowhere … the streets seem to run east-west and the avenues seem to run north-south. Too bad they don’t have some further designation that they are not paved or even graded.
Wow…and people say Buies Creek is in the sticks! However, we will loose our claim to fame (our one traffic light) when the NC Department of Transportation creates the second round-a-bout at CU. Matt, hope you don’t find one of those on this road!!

I know, kind of unexpected, isn’t it? “Friends” really led people in the wrong direction about what New York is actually like.

I like the patterns in the mud; looks like something you might find on the Moon.
This is 34th St., Penn Station. Transfer is available to the A, C, E, and…oh wait….

Apparently, this is 34th St on the google map. I noticed it just now when I zoomed in on the map. And the location of Matt’s last pic on the map looks as if it’s near a railroad track running parallel to 34-1/2 St. ;-)
Those 1/2 streets will get you in trouble every time!
Now this would make the perfect cover on your book “I’m Just Walkin'”, which I’m hoping you’ll publish with all the stories you couldn’t share here.
