    Rural America!
Rode all 48 lower states for 5 months last year. Always remember this tiny Motel and the permanent sign on the Managers office door. Read something like “Need a room? Please drive to mile marker ### turn north at white mail box go 800 yards to mobile home to register and key”. Mile marker was 18 miles behind me or 18 miles before even seeing the Motel. I slept next to the next oil donkey pump station down the road.

  2. katzien in austin says:

Dang, now that’s a small town!

  3. SandyM says:

    I so love this sign!

  4. Karen Too says:

Wow, and I thought that I lived in a small hamlet. (Where I live is not even officially a town.)

These came in handy and still do, esp. before 911 when most roads weren’t given offical names. Directions like Pacis stated are the norm. We had a box Rural Route Box number and to get it was go xx miles and turn x at the T or fork in the road and when you got closer to our place there was an old teal car by a windmill and our house was over the next to hills :). Lindsay will have a post office, bar, gas station and grain elevator. If you go through Circle – small town also the county seat, then on to Brockway – there will be a bar just past the turn to Brockway (celebrating 100 years of Brockway Dairy Days Rodeo – and all class reunion for the Circle Alumni – weekend of July 17th). The Bar is known as The BS Club (Brockway Supper Club) then there will be a rest stop between Brockway and Jordan where 200 and 20 meet. Not sure your exact route – but I’ld stick to the main highway as the little off roads could get you lost and not many people to come along and find you.

keep giving Matt the tidbits of info so he’s informed on these back roads…. we want him to be safe and able to get supplies!
Glad you’re keeping track Glenda… thanks.

  6. And I see the rails behind the sign. Temptation? Walk on Matt, walk on.

    • Jef says:

More Beer and Pizza ahead…but you got to keep walking.

You’re missing an “F” again. What’d you do with it? Maybe I don’t wanna know. But we all know it’s you in there you can’t hide from us.

        • Jeff says:

What the “f”. Yea..I was laughing at myself to…and wishing I had taken a hike with a guy named Matt. Not hiding. Just not typing real good…that is so funny when you can see peoples typo’s…it’s like not just me…! Hope you had/have a peaceful day. Stay cool.

          • Oh my gosh! I know. It’s 85 right now at 11am and climbing. Don’t know what the heat index is. I’m stayin’ in today and enjoying the air conditioning. Hope the electric stays on otherwise I’ll be outside under the hose. Stay cool yourself today Jef (f)

My grandfather and grama left our house one evening to head back to there place south of Miles City one time – they drove arround in circles all night eventually almost out of gas my uncle happend upon them early in the moring got them gassed up (many ranches have large fuel tanks as the nearest town can be 30 to 70 miles away), and headed in the right direction. My grandfather had been to our place many times in the daylight but got turned arround in the dark.
