Almost VT looking, except much higher, isn’t it Andrew? Not too many roads like that, though, maybe Lincoln Gap! That is how the road to my family in MT looks! Good job, Matt!
Wowzers!! Hopefully you won’t need another pair of boots before you get to OR! Glad you’ve made it to another state….your surroundings right now look amazing!
Looks pretty rough there. I would’ve been upset and discouraged going that slow and on that rocky road. Stamina and perseverance would have been in order for the day. Glad you finally made it up the hill. Looking forward to the views everyone out there has raved about. Hope you show us some of it. And hope there are no more roads such as this in your way.
Matt has SISU. Stamina, perseverance and endurance in the face of adversity. I’d say pushing a cart up this steep, rocky road for 6-1/2 miles on a hot summer day is “adversity”. Matt = SISU. Way to go! Matt!
Keep an eye out for those big black furry bears. Also, those big brown ones too. They ain’t no “Teddy Bears”.
That's the idea, at least. I'm walking westward from New York City for nine months or so.
If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in Oregon when the clock runs out.
If nothing goes according to plan, maybe I'll end up in Peru or Mongolia or Pennsylvania.
You can read all about the details of my trip
if you're so inclined.
And it’s such a beautiful road! I hope the scenery was worth the pushing!
By the way – that’s my pace on flat land :)
And your still alive….!!!! Can you smell the pacific yet??? Well done, brother.
ps: I will requisition the pavement for ya.
egads… Those kind of road conditions will wear out Matt’s boots in a hurry!
The sign promised a primitive road…this looks pretty primitive.

Avergaing over 1 MPH up a step hill is excellent!

Matt,
This is one road you’ll probably NEVER forget about, although you might want to. This is the s-l-o-w-e-s-t you’ve gone so far. Keep on trekkin’.

Hang in there, of course you will!

Matt definitely has sisu! Congratulations, Matt. I hope you sat down for a nice long drink of spring water when you reached the top.
I hope going down will be a breeze!
Dear Sisyphus,
Congrats! Keep it up! Almost there!
Egads is right! I’ll bet his hands were more sore than his feet! What a feat!
